Plum Fruit -
Aromas and Flavors of Wine
Plums were first used and loved by the Chinese, and they quickly spread through the rest of the region. The Romans quickly adopted the plum for use in desserts. This fruit was very popular in its dried form, the prune.
The Wines with Plum Flavor
Plum flavors can be found in many wines. Shiraz / Syrah has a plummy flavor to it. Merlot is another wine with flavors of plum. Petit Sirah, which is not related to Syrah or Shiraz, does have plum flavors.
Pinot Noir often has jammy flavors of plum.
