I was just out visiting Chicama Winery on Martha’s Vineyard island. You know, the place that Jaws was filmed, and that just had a giant shark fishing tournament! It’s the perfect place to visit, with its gingerbread cottages, great restaurants, and of course, a winery right there to visit and enjoy.

Fortified wines like madeira, marsala, port, and so on, have a higher than normal alcohol level. The alcohol helps preserve them so they do not go bad instantly once opened. However, they will not last indefinitely. You should try to still drink them within 2-3 weeks, and be aware that the last sip isn’t going to be as good as the first.
