Fortified wines like madeira, marsala, port, and so on, have a higher than normal alcohol level. The alcohol helps preserve them so they do not go bad instantly once opened. However, they will not last indefinitely. You should try to still drink them within 2-3 weeks, and be aware that the last sip isn’t going to be as good as the first.
