Boston Wine Expo 2003
Ending with Prosecco
I was perfectly satisfied after the Dominus tasting to have those flavors in my mouth for the rest of the day, but I did want to sample one more type of Italian white before we left for the day. My mom is a big fan of the Italian sparkling wine style Prosecco. Prosecco is made from the prosecco grape with a small amount of other white grapes added at times. The style is light and flowery, and goes well with omelettes and seafood.
We had the Funello Prosecco brut, which was sweet, fruity and light, Hints of strawberry in that one. Next was the Mionetto, fresh and fruity, with peach hints. The Prosecco de Valdobbiadere was more tart, with a lemony, crisp flavor.
With that we were set for the day! We headed out, taking a breather before the Sunday tasting.
