Presidio has finally learned that my hand is not so terrible. He has not fully committed yet...but he has the one foot on perch one foot on finger action going. He also lets me pet his chest usually and seems to like it! He is even making friends with my husband (I caught him baby talking Presidio with his hand in the cage earlier today) ahhh. No chirping yet really...someday maybe.

so you took him home?

yes actually. I was debating up until the end but I ended up taking him home about 7:00 last night when I left work. I decided that I would be thinking about it all day Saturday if I did not and I live to far away to visit.

Presidio adjusted quite well and didn't seem to mind the drive since I took back roads and drove slow. People must have thought I was about 100 years old driving so slow. :p

I am glad that I did too because we made some good progress today I think. Considering the trauma he must have gone through being loose and then caught I think trusting my hand after such a short time is great. I can't wait till he fully commits to perching on my finger!

They usually stay silent for several days or even longer after anything traumatic.

Gebo didn't make a peep until day four of being here. Now, almost a month later, I can't shut him up!

Hang in there with the finger training you guys. Try the Millet in the fingers technique. It helped a lot of us here get our birds finger trained in no time.

I have tried the millet thing. He seems more freaked out when something is in my hand though so I quit. I might hold my hand differently or something...he is still pretty jumpy.
