my bird is always on his mirror staring at it and wont do any thing else should i take it away from him he thinks its another bird and now he is staring at it chirping thinking its another bird guys i need your help i am thinking i should get another parakeet

well if your trying to teach it to talk then youi should leave it there. but its normal for your keet to chirp at his mirror he is just being playful and thats a good thing...but if you want to remove the mirror mabee getting a second keet would b good.

yeah i think i should get him another freind because we removed the mirror just for 4 minutes and he was worried and then when we put it back he hoped right on it he thinks its another bird i think he really needs another buddy

I think you should slowly wean him off of it. If you want him to be bonded with you a new friend won't help. Try taking the mirror out for several minutes then make each session longer so that eventually the mirror is barely ever in the cage until the point where you can just take it out for good.

Kiwi has a friend and all he does all day is stare into the mirror and chirp and rub his head on it. But he's perfectly bonded with me. I got him Storm because I knew that I was going back to school again and I though Kiwi would be lonely after all summer with me. He seemed as happy as ever but he still chirps at his mirror. I think he's convinced it's another keet. Sometimes he dows this thing where he opens up his beak and has like a mini squawk. It's entertaining. I think Nacho has a good idea.

o...well thats perfectly understandbale but u can put a lot of toys in the cage with ti and it will still have something to do while your at school
