Has anyone seen U2 on this newest concert tour?

If so, was it worth the ticket price?

I would love to see them! My dream would be to see them in Dublin.

Nope, I havent seen them yet. Their concert tickets are so expensive.. I ust watch their concerts on tv. hehe.

hey, I saw them and as a matter of fact, it was in Dublin!!!

It was the second of their 3 Dublin shows. Apparently they werent as good the first night, but I thought they were fab.
I wouldnt call myself a fan per se, but its the third time i've seen them live and it was the best.

I am a tremendous fan of U2 and greatly admire their courage to change styles throughout the years. So many bands such as Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and other older bands have kept to the same commercially predictable sound. It's so much more courageous and creative to change, to create a new sound different from what you've produced before. And quite a gamble.

U2's cd POP was not a huge commercial success but it is one of my favs. I enjoy many types of music and the techno flavor they experimented with on that albumn was very well done I thought.

Of course they've taken a step or two back toward the original sound they started with but it still sounds fresh and timely.

I have not had the pleasure of attending a concert on this tour yet. I did however see them 5 times in 1997 and 3 times in 2001. Joy! The last concert on the tour is in Portland, Oregon in December. I can't imagine not seeing them at least once!

Any other types of music or bands you enjoy/recommend?

I also saw them at Live 8. They were openers then so the atmosphere wasnt quite as good, but they were still worth seeing.

I went to see K T Tunstall last night here in Dublin: she is Scottish. She is SO talented and has a great band with her; if you in any way are into female singer songwriters, check her out. She has such a variety of songs and every song on her debut album is really good.

Other than that , I am mainly into alternative music, mainly from the UK:
The Delgados
Super Furry Animals
Spiritualised
and loads more you probaly havent heard of...

To be honest, none of them are at all like U2 really.

I actually prefer alternative music also. It's nice to not have to explain to someone what 'alternative' means!

I don't think U2 would be categorized as alternative but I don't care. I love the Blues, classical, Celtic, New Age, Techno, Big Band..you name it and I probably like it to one degree or another. Well, don't like Country much.

I will have to check out the bands you mention. Always great to listen to some new sounds! Some of my current fav American bands are: Audioslave, Beck, Stone Temple Pilots, & Incubus.
