that's very simple - i have said before - you need to consider the possibility that God does not exist and that's why is not responsible for any of these. Good and Evil exist in nature - just as you said to make us aware that how good "good" is.

God is just a creation of fertile human mind, trying to explain things in an easily understandable way.

it may also indicate DISPLACEMENT - A psychological defense mechanism in which there is an unconscious shift of emotions, affect, desires or blame from the original object (usually him or herself) to a more acceptable or immediate substitute (= God).

please note i am just pointing to these possibilities only. wink

Yes, somsuj you mention points or queries that are as old as human kind..Life is a mystery to be sure. As for the question of God's existence, my thoughts are we will NEVER know for sure until:

1. We die and find God on the other side....Or

2. After we die...there is nothing else.

To me, there can be no inbetween. Well, actually for anyone there is no inbetween. Either god exists or he doesn't. Do you think it's possible to die and not find out? I have not thought of that possibility.

I think it may be possible that we die and there is nothing else. as a medic - i have not been able to locate the "spirit" yet! wink

My Grandad made a pact with me that if he dies and finds something on the other side - he will come back and tell me. He passed away in 1987 - i have not heard anything yet. wink

Why there cannot be any inbetween - i consider that i am 99% sure that there is no God. Just in case and i find Him laughing at my face - i reserve the 1% doubt in my mind - that absence of proof of existence is not absence per se. wink

i think it is better to think of ALL possibilities before forming a strong opinion. as kateyes' signature says : "The important thing is not to stop questioning." --- Albert Einstein

i want to steal that signature smile smile smile

I guess to further discuss what I am saying above is this: Seems that humans pretty much think that when we die is when we find out if there is God. The possibility I have not thought of is...perhaps we do not even get to find out when we die! Human nature thru the ages has believed that when we die we get to find out all that we did not know in life...at least that's how most people I know think of life..that we find out the answers to all the burning questions we had in life, after we die. But, the possibility is also that we don't get to find out a darn thing after we die. We just die, period, end of our story for all eternity.

Do you see what I mean? I have always thought that when I die I will get answers to a multitude of questions I had while I lived. And if you believe in God, you assume you will get the answers from God. But I suppose if you don't believe in God and there is no God in reality...then all those questions go unanswered. How frustrating! I have always counted on getting the answers at SOME POINT! smile smile

Guess the old adage..one day at a time, or don't worry about tomorrow, or enjoy today for you know not what tomorrow brings really rings true. Because today is all we have. And to someone who does not believe in God, if you die tomorrow...there is just black emptiness forever...

Hmmm, I prefer to believe in God. What do I have to lose? My life would not be better without God. And I find so much joy in musing about God. It's more comforting for me to not think of going into a black endless hole after dying with no consciousness any longer. Guess that harkens back to your theory of DISPLACEMENT. I am not alone however, more people since the beginning of time have believed in God, than not! smile

I suppose, if there is some kind of afterlife, we find out, and if there isn't - if this is all there is and when you die you die - then we don't - both because there's nothing to find out and because we're in no state to discover it, if there were!

Merry Christmas!

I can understand why many aren't worried about the afterlife. But one question I've always had -- if I'm wrong & there is no God, no Jesus, etc. what do I have to lose? Nothing. If you're wrong, what do you have to lose? Everything. The soul is nothing to gamble with IMO.
