I guess to further discuss what I am saying above is this: Seems that humans pretty much think that when we die is when we find out if there is God. The possibility I have not thought of is...perhaps we do not even get to find out when we die! Human nature thru the ages has believed that when we die we get to find out all that we did not know in life...at least that's how most people I know think of life..that we find out the answers to all the burning questions we had in life, after we die. But, the possibility is also that we don't get to find out a darn thing after we die. We just die, period, end of our story for all eternity.
Do you see what I mean? I have always thought that when I die I will get answers to a multitude of questions I had while I lived. And if you believe in God, you assume you will get the answers from God. But I suppose if you don't believe in God and there is no God in reality...then all those questions go unanswered. How frustrating! I have always counted on getting the answers at SOME POINT!
Guess the old adage..one day at a time, or don't worry about tomorrow, or enjoy today for you know not what tomorrow brings really rings true. Because today is all we have. And to someone who does not believe in God, if you die tomorrow...there is just black emptiness forever...
Hmmm, I prefer to believe in God. What do I have to lose? My life would not be better without God. And I find so much joy in musing about God. It's more comforting for me to not think of going into a black endless hole after dying with no consciousness any longer. Guess that harkens back to your theory of DISPLACEMENT. I am not alone however, more people since the beginning of time have believed in God, than not!
