I will disagree with you on this. I think the majority of the world population DOES believe in something we consider nonsense. Christians might be a minority of the world's population, but take together all the believers of all faiths, and THEY are in the majority.

Look PDM if I'm venting on you I do apologize. I really do feel that everytime I have stepped out and provided an answer to someone's question I have been barraged with comments on my beliefs. Everyone has been guilty of it at one time or another, and I usually deal with it easily, until I get upset and get sarcastic.

I will continue to answer as long as people ask. My only request is that if you don't agree state that, ask another question or post a rebutal, but don't treat it like it's comical. I will do the same to the posts given that I don't agree with. Again this is not just directed at you, but at everyone.

Well some people deal with things by joking about it while others get upset ~ and there are a variety of emotions in between.

I could say that I feel 'barraged' by the responses of all the 'believers' at times.

I doubt that you feel barraged by those who agree with you, but who disagree with the agnostics, atheists, liberal Christians and peoples of other faiths.

Remember, being told that we are deservedly destined for hell is something that we are supposed to just accept.

But if I want to enjoy the interesting conversations, then I have to accept that some views will be totally unlike my own - to the extent that they will be very negative towards my viewpoint. It's the same for everyone.

Maybe some people get a bit sarcastic at times - but you admit that you do it too.

I was simply saying that, in my opinion, the cow & chicken argument that you used against evolution was incorrect and unfair.

I don't have a problem with the argument that a good design must have a designer. I can see the logic in that.

You didn't understand what I was saying. I meant that both the scientific belief and the belief that a god (not just the Christian god) created the world have many followers. Considering that fact, neither viewpoint can be regarded as nonsense.

Can I just clarify that, when I was talking about 'nonsense', I was not referring to anyone's religious beliefs; I was referring to the notion that a cow might turn into a chicken, or even that anyone might believe that a cow could turn into a chicken.

I assume out of your statement, that it is then the 'logically' assumption by you, that this 1st Designer of all, has 'designed himself' - why deny this same possibility to the evolutionary Process - it is somehow the same, isn't it?

One is the Creationist Theory - unproven - which seems to scientifically orientated Individuals 'unlogically' - the other the Evolutionary Thesis - yet unproven, but many, many Proofs being 'unearthed' more than any of the Genesis that can 'hold the water' - seems more palatable to the pro-evolution thesis community.

I here stick only to the book, in an other Thread I wrote that I think that the Bible as it exists of today has been - out of what ever reasons been meddled with - may it be politically - whatever - there are other "holy scripts" which are a lot more accurate about what, why and how- about the beginning of life on earth or even the beginning of the Universe - lots of it - because of it's tremendous Age - time involved very Pagan stuff...

So we have to decipher the message - a new - why not - what should we be afraid of - after all - ALL these scripts are MANMADE! And therein is the MANMADE Claim that this is supposedly the "WORD of GOD"

If "HE" Was the "Creator" of it ALL including US - why would he need to send us a message or a messenger?

I thought it says "He made us like himself.." if so, what the fuss or isn't everything so perfect after all ? - ahhhh...yep, here comes "the Fall" into the equasion and that makes it even more obscure - the "allmighty One" should have prevented this horrible accident with the Apple - didn't he "build" this Garden for his "Children" wouldn't you try to prevent an accident of major scale - threatening your children - if you knew that there is this possibility? Say, something like a giant deep Hole in the Garden wouldn't you fence it in? In todays world tyhere are - manmade - laws which would send you to jail if a major accident happens and you are found to be responsible for letting it happen - understand?

Here's my five-cents worth to this thread:

Evolution vs. Creation is absurdly obvious to me. To me, evolution offers SO much more evidence, logic, indeed common sense than the alternative, the "Talking Snake Theory". Look, we have already proven (most of us, anyway) that the OT is chock-full of stuff that is no longer practical advise, in fact downright silly to try to process literally. It's NO LESS IMPORTANT, mind you, to read and study the beliefs of our ancentors, BUT WE MUST CONTINUE TO LEARN!! We KNOW more than they did 4000 years ago, so why CAN'T our beliefs change accordingly?

God and evolution CAN co-exist!! Give me one logical reason why it could not have been part of God's grand design?? Because the Bible contains a chapter called Genesis? A story that pre-dates the Bible by at least 200 years written by un-saved, non-Christian, legend-telling tribes of people who just wanted to EXPLAIN their existance like us?

God gave us incredible brains people, he gave some of us the ability to become great scientists!! God is trying to TELL us more about the things we ALL want to know, and we IGNORE him, prefering to stick with a book of stories written milleniums ago. We're probably driving God nuts!!! He gives us a perfectly good ability to reason, and we refuse to USE it!
