Leaving him with my parents would normally be a great idea! But.. I kinda live with my parents. Hehe! I just turned 18 a few weeks ago and I dont have enough saved up to get my own place yet. Kyoko was actually a birthday present from a few friends

A very small fee is payed for leaving your budgie at a vet or a pet store. I called my local pet store and it was 5.00$. A small price to pay for keeping a keet alive.
And your keet gets time to spend with his friends!

Personally, I'd rather send my parakeet somewhere where there are no other parakeets. Because of illnesses and it might be to stressful for the keet to be with all of those keets and not be able to get to them (because of desiese risk) AND Kyoko might revert back to being wild and no longer be finger trained

You can leave him at the SPCA. My SPCA has rooms for each animal. You can ask them to put it with some other animals if you don't want them with the birds. I left cobra there and they had her in a huge glass thingy. She and some of my keets were there since no one left their keet there. :p :p

I'm not worried about that... he's not finger trained anyway!! hehe!! well, i'm still working on it. he dosent bite anymore but he still pecks.
Thanks for ya'll suggestions. Next time i need to, i will consider taking him to a small animal hospital or the SPCA, or the like. The only other animals i've ever had are dogs, cats, and a horse, so thats why I expected the fee to be high. thanks again!

I don't think I was being harsh. If this was a mom of a human baby, and she talked about leaving the baby in a home that was being filled with poisonous foam, we would all be horrified. Owning a living creature is a very serious responsibility. It doesn't matter how you get that animal. If you accept the responsibility of owning that pet, that is what you have done. You have accepted the responsibility. It is then your duty to protect that living creature. It really upsets me that someone could even wonder if letting their living responsibility inhale poison is OK.
Sure, we all have money issues. We all make decisions involving money. Someone is obviously paying for the poison though.
Lisa, OBVIOUSLY she cared, or she wouldn't have even asked about it Please stop isisting that she is a bad owner.

Exactly. Is it her fault for not being exactly sure about the danger of it? And notice as soon as she realized that it was FAR too dangerous, she started looking for ways to get it out of the house.
ANYONE who cares enough about their keet to talk about ANYTHING here, is DEFINATELY not a bad owner.

I never said she was a bad owner ...?
However, my statement did imply that she had bad *judgement* which I will stand by. If a mother asks "is it OK to expose my baby to poison", just the fact that she would ask that question is cause for concern. That's like asking "is it OK to torture my baby".
The appropriate question would be, "I am positive that I do not *want* my baby exposed to poison. What are my options to find a safe place for my baby to be away from the poison".
