Yorkies, Maltese,Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu and a few others I can't think of do not shed and are good for people with animal allergies. You just have to have the $$ for em! wink (They're small, too!)

I have a golden, they shed in fluff's and I vac twice a day, they are strong dogs, easy to train, SMART gentle dogs with a lot of energy and need and want to be with their people, I do not have a big yard, but when he is out he has an over head run the lenght of the yard, they are diggers and chewers and need strong indestructable toys, lot's of play time
brushed daily or at least weekly, given all this I would own another as he is my 2nd golden and because they are so good and gentle and loveable I will get another when he is gone but that is a long way off as he is only 11 months old, 26 inches high and 80 lbs of solid muscle

I have a mini schnuaser, tshizsu (?) and a mini poodle, none of them shed they get max 20 lbs The tsh... 12 lbs. The 1st 2 are high energy dogs and play together all the time, the poodle is almost 14, but still frisky and healthy. The poodle is the only 1 I bought ($300.00 13 yearss ago)the schnauser I got at the pound, and the tshizsu was rescued from the street. Out of the 3 the poodle is my favorite, he is smart, easy to train and very loyal. My other poodle lived 12 years. They have been healthy dogs, never any big medical expense. PLEASE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE DO NOT BUY A DOG. THEY HAVE PUPPIES AT THE SHELTER THAT NEED HOMES OR WILL BE EUTHANIZED.

Amen to that!
When he was a teenager, my husband had this amazingly smart collie that he and his mom rescued from the pound. Unless you actually go to the shelter you have no idea about what kind of animals are waiting there to be taken to their new homes - some of them are just wonderful; so please do look into that first...

If I get a puppy I am going to get it from a breeder. I know there are a lot of animals at shelters but I feel better if I know the animals medical history. Golden Retrievers are GREAT! I had one a while back ago and she was amazing. I forgot about the digging and the chewing. That part wasnt so amazing. I already have a bichon so im looking for something bigger.

GET A MALTESE. They are the best.

P.S. ignore the extremely ugly haircuts that most of them have. Mine has a puppy cut and is awesome.

if you go for a golden get if from a reputable breeder, do alot of research on the HEALTH ISSUES , LIKE DISPLASIA ECT, and the breeder and their line or try a rescue golden, but pet quality is going to run about 800.00 you over 1,000.

Don't over look the local pound, there are many puppies and older dogs looking for a good home, sometimes and more times than often, mutt's are healthier than pedigree dogs and make wonderful pets
I have owned or fostered many a mutt and they were all great dogs.

Well the problem I have with shelter dogs is that the dog is usualy abused or abandoned. They tend to have unusual problems with water or loud noises. Since there are kids in my neighborhood I dont want to take a chance with him/her biting someone. BUT not all dogs are like that. I just feel better with a breeder. That way I can see the dogs medical history and behaviors.
