My Isaac was put a pitbull. I had him put down in March because he was very old. I hear and read all the time in the paper the babd things about pitbulls. Never any of the good... I also have been following up on breed ban for pitbulls. Thing like this make me anger because all the blame is on the breed not the owners. Yeah Once in a great while there are pitbulls who are bad dogs even with good owners. But alot of the time the dog is turn out that because the owner made it that way. In my city there was a Golden Retriever that attacked a 5 year old little boy. The little boy lost part of an ear and some use of his left hand... Do you think that was in the New Paper.... NO! Had it had been a pitbull it would be right on the front page....

in nyc there was a golden retriver that killed a 4 or 5 year old little girl, it was on the news but they never said anything bad about the dog it was just this horrrible horrible accident they did not put the dog down or anything if a pitbull would have done that they would have put the dog down, i think ots wrong and pitbull are banned in sum parts of florida if they catch u with one they will send it some where else or euthanize it.

cyn, sorry about you havin' to put your Issac down. I agree, its almost always on the owner. My big brother has always had pits, yrs now, and the two he has now think they are cats. They live with cats, lots of them, I think sis-in-law has 5 or 6, and want to sit in laps and stuff. My son has two pits, they however are butt-heads. Any guess as to what the difference is? My brother is an older man, very serene, very put-together. Wise. Etc. My son, on the other hand, although I love him more than life itself, is a butt-head. And his dogs take after them. Ill-mannered, Ill-tempered. Stubborn. Wild. I don't know WHY my son is this way, certainly wasn't raised like this, I'm hopin' and prayin' that its his age. He's 21. Anyway, yep its on the owner. Argh.

Cyn, those videos were too sad to watch. Most people are blind. Not physically but mentally. They cant see that its the owners fault the dogs are bad. The dogs are just trying to find ways to defend themselves. frown Then the dogs are put down because there is no hope for them to ever have normal life. The other day, i was watching animal planet and there was a story of 2 pitbulls. The neighbors heard fights and sure enough, they had their dogs fighting. I forgot what its called, a pit bull ring? The dogs were so badly injured and a third dog came in. Everything got worst. One of the pitbulls was just a puppy too. frown They euthanized all the dogs. frown Those dogs could have had a good life but they were forced into fighting. mad frown

OMG I went to PetSmart yesterday to pick up some hand feeding formula ( which i was to say was way to much). There was this guy there walking about with a pitBull. They people at pet smart made him muzzle him. Then there was this lady walkin around with a shar-pei mix dog. The dog went crazy everytime it saw another dog (it went into fight mode big time). The woman was like 4 feet tall and couldn't even control the dog. The pitbull didn't growl once at any dog it seen. It he was soooooooo friendly. They didn't make her muzzle her dog... I was soooooooooo ticked.... I'm calling thier headquarters fist thing tomorrow...

Breed bans and the "evil" pitbull hype make me sick. Ugh, some people are so (to be blunt) stupid!! Could go off on a rave about it, but since I see everyone on here seems to think the same (so far) there is no need for that. LOL laugh

That's really sad Cyn, I do hope you called and let them know that was unfair. Every animal has the potential to be friendly or unfriendly, it pretty much comes down to how it was raised (except for the very few cases of inbreeding or so on).

Its always so depressing, seeing how people act around these beautiful and intelligent dogs. I've always loved the breed 110%. I used to right stories around them for writing assignments in class, I've also created small internet groups to talk about the truth and spread the love of the breed. And ignorance does, obviously, kill. =C

My parents and against the Pit Bulls; they are part of the public that believe nothing good came come from such a 'bad breed'. I really do pray for people to turn around, stop giving them a bad reputation, and stop believing in rediculous stories.

It's so sad. People make the dogs that way, not every dog is like that. I think because their breed is such a powerful breed and they are able to do damage, everyone thinks they automatically would.

I couldn't watch, made is 2 mins in and had to stop. Nothing fires me up more than seeing the innocent victems of man's violence.
What separates man from the rest of the animals is man is the only one who enjoys inflicting pain on others.
I was a victem of a nasty dog attack when I was about 5 or 6, it had such an impact on my life it will be scared forever in my memory. The dogs were a pair of beautiful sheperd-dobie mixes named King and Queen, I had made friends with them but the other kids on my circle taunted the dogs to no end and none of their parents ever said anything about it. We weren't allowed fenced yards so the dogs were chained. I made the fatal mistake of cutting the corner with out letting them see me first. It cost them their lives. I was the only voice crying not to kill them but no one would listen to me, no one took action against the ones who hit them with sticks or poked at them.
Yes they did attack me, but it was the blow to my head hitting the concrete that could have killed me, it was the middle of winter and I was told I laid there for about 2 hours before I was noticed and it took another hour for them to get the dogs away from me. They had been laying over my body and I personaly believe they kept me alive. It didn't matter one bit, all they could say was IF it had been another child... german shepards and dobermans are vicious so a cross must be worse (this was in the 70s when those breeds were the evil ones)

Yes you do have agression issuses anytime you breed an animal, but we have far more issuses with our own agression.
Why is it that they (dogs and other critters) must answer and pay the price for man's crimes?
Sorry about the rant...
