ok. i have been having this reoccuring dream. See if you can help me figure out the meaning. Background info: For 2 and 1/2 years i was in love with this guy. he was my first love and i have never felt the same about any other guy. He moved away, and comes to the town i live at every once in a while. I got completely over it about a month ago and i hadnt thought of him or seen him until recently. My dreams: For the past two nights i have dreamt about us being together. In one of the dreams, he goes to hug me and i pull away at first and then give in. We are together for an hour or so and then he has to leave, we were outside and it was night, and when he walks off to get in the car, it was like i was never gonna see him again, i ran into the house and started crying. i was standing by the window, and right before he got in the car he turned around and blew me a kiss. then got in and drove off. it makes me want to cry just thinking about it. i thought i was completely over him. any advice on this dream is welcome, i dont understand it.

I'm hardly an expert on dreams or their meanings. But I can speculate as much as anyone, I think.

I occasionally have dreams regarding my first wife of 21 years, although the marriage ended in 1985, and I realize that I no longer am "in love" with her (but still love the "memory" of her). Caring doesn't just completely stop when we decide that it should.

You are a little unclear about if and how the relationship ended, but I have my doubts that anyone is completely over someone they cared about. The mind is one thing, but the emotions are another.

One possibility of the dream - in that despite being with you, he left, blowing you a kiss, and you felt certain that you were not going to see him again - is that in your subconscious you were working through the same decisions that you had already arrived at consciously. In effect, turning the page.

The brain has an amazing ability to dredge up thoughts buried deep in the mind.
Without knowing much about your general age and how long ago the relationship ended, it is hard to offer you specific advice.

I agree with Carl that you never fully forget about special people in your lives, even if you have moved on in the conscious world. I definitely would not over-read into the dream and I wouldn't act on anything based on the dream. What is most important is how you feel about your situation and your relationship when you are awake!

Good luck.
