kariva: When most people think of clipping a birds wings, they think of almost completely disabling the bird of flight. They could only fly about a foot or 2 if they tried hard. That is not only cruel in my opinon (!!opinion!!) but the bird gets so worked up trying to get anywhere, and that can be REALLY dangerous too!!!! what if the bird is on the floor, and no one sees it, and it gets stepped on?! OR if another animal comes along, and the bird can't get out of the way. I hate when birds wings are clipped too much.... =\\
MY way is to only cut a few on each side (for most keets, lime on the other hand, gets all of her flight feathers cut, and she can STILL fly laps around the room!!! I'm like, geezzz!! lol) that way they can still get away if they ever needed to, and they can fly to low places without falling almost instantly, but they can't get into really high, hard-to-reach places, and you can catch them better. =D It's all going on the birds ability of flight. =]
