Hey, I have a question about when they break a blood feather!
Skittles crashed really hard and started bleeding yesteday night. I couldn't find the powder immediatly, so I stretched out his wing like how I would if I was clipping him and ran the bleeding tip of his wing under cold water for a minute. Then I applied some pressure by squeezing his wing (not too hard though) to stop the bleeding. I know you're supposed to pull the feather, so I tried. But it didn't come out! Why was it like that? I only tried once so that I wouldn't hurt him, but it didn't come out!
Anyway, I applied the flour (after I found it) and watched him for 30 minutes before I washed off the flour. The bleeding stopped and all.

My question is - In case he starts bleedng again, what should I do if the feather doesn't come out? It wasn't a lot of bleeding this time, so I got lucky.

to pull it out (i've never had to do this though--luckily) you have to do a quick sharp pull and it should come out nomatter what. But, for some reason it doesn't come out then, just use the kwikstop/flour...

also you have to pull in the direction that it is growing or you are takeing chances on breaking it under the skin and causeing the keet alot of pain, it WILL come out but you have to give it a quick hard pull. kinda like when you tweeze your eyebrowse lol i dont know if you do or not but it would be the same difference a quick pull less pain ha ha ha. but you have to pull pretty hard. in other words YANK IT OUT. in the direction it is growing WITH TWEEZERS!!!!!

I've never clipped my birds' wings before, but I should try sometime. I'm not scared and I am confident that I wont screw up, they just arent in need of it yet... This is very helpful beucase I had no clue how to do it and my vet doesn't do birds.

Yeah, I did! But it still didn't come out!
Well I'll use water, pressure, and flour for minor amounts of bleeding. If it doesn't stop, I'll have to pull it out no matter what.
