>sigh<
i was going to try to stay away from this one, but i can't...no offense kiwibird2--i'm sure you're a simply lovely person, but basically, dido to everyone else who has posted--i don't much see how you can possibly support bush if you've been paying attention. as an aware, alert and informed individual, and as an american you
should be outraged not only by what bush and his administration have done, but also what they have been trying to do. and that statement is not based in simply my opinion--it is based in the
facts that are right there in your face. this war is USELESS--bush knows it is useless. he ADMITTED that he lied, and he said
himself that not only were there no weapons of mass destruction, but also that there was no reason to believe that there were weapons of mass destruction. so why are we in iraq??? if bush needed to quench his thirst for blood, why not go to north korea? they all but sent us a picture of their weapons of mass destruction with a note reading, "we're going to get you. love, n. korea

"!! but he paid no attention to that. and what about his response on 9/11. do you remember that? he did NOTHING. no immediate action was taken--he just went back to reading a childrens book to a class of kids. and hurricane katrina? just
try to convince me that his response was appropriate there--his first response? "oh, well, senator trent lott lost his new mansion." yeah, and all of the underpaid, hardworking, lower class, and people of color are floating dead in the water and the best thing he could think to do is express his condolences for the loss of mr. lott's mansion? was that appropriate or in any way shape or form compassionate? and in case you actually think that mr. bush is spending american tax dollars in a responsible manner, let's talk about this gay marriage thing. and set aside your personal beliefs for the moment as they are irrelevant to my point (whatever they are). THIS is the big issue? this is what mr. president wants to talk about? there is this huge debate over whether or not hoosexuals can get married and bush thinks that this is the biggest threat to the "american family"? are you serious? there is a WAR going on! if anything is threatening this so-called "american family", it's that unnecessary WAR. peoples' sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, friends--people my age and up are DYING over there...over what? what are they fighting for? they don't know--look at the news. we're getting more and more cases of soldiers coming back and trying to KILL themselves rather than go back and fight bush's war for him. there are SOLDIERS saying that this war is pointless. and they were there--what does that tell you? and don't even get me started on how bush is BLATANTLY vilolating the Constitution, if not trying to overrule it altogether. Clinton gets impeached for being unfaithful, and Bush gets away with THIS?? give me one good reason for that! i'm sorry, but i don't see how you can POSSIBLY support bush. i really don't. i respect your right to, but forgive when i say that you're driving with your eyes closed. and while we're at it, let's talk about bush's dream to "spread democracy" uh--first of all, maybe we should take a good look at our own democracy before we decide that everyone else has it wrong. do your research--look up what a democracy is, and then look at the state of other country's democracies...we have the most bent "democracy" there is! and here's a thought: not everyone has to do it the way we do it. not every country has to operate under a democracy. the US is not the ruler of the world (and if you think we are, then that is frightening)--leaders have a right to decide how they will run their own countries as long as they don't violate human rights. mr. bush says it's our responsibility to correct those who--wait, this sounds familiar...oh yeah! it's one of the many arguments used by slave owners to justify african slavery! so excuse me if i refer to what this administration is doing as a giant step back...and now that i'm on this note, let me say this: when bush was first elected for president, i couldn't vote. nor could i vote for his second term. but i paid attention. and i remember a very notable comment made by bush about this war--he called it a "crusade." if you know
anything about history, you should be deeply troubled by this. do you know what the crusades were? they were a holocaust, basically. go read up on your European history and learn about it. and when you're through, i want you to think: do i really want to support someone who finds no problem with openly referring to himself as a crusader? i should hope your answer is no. i could go on and on, but i think you'll find that i get more heated as i go. so let me just say this: i don't think it's a "sin" to support bush. i just think its incredibly stupid. i don't mean to disrespect you, nor do i wwant you to think i'm yelling at you. but to support bush--especially
now--indicates that you are more than willing to completely ignore
facts, and to follow without questioning, and to just settle for being ignorant of what's really going on. think of what historical event happened due to those very characteristics...that, my friend, is scary
