Yes, very interesting. And LoraX -- you go, girl! Seriously, you wrote so many things I just wasn't willing to take the time to write.

Sometimes I just get "fried out" with what's going on in this country and I get so tired of arguing with knee-jerk republicans and right-wingers, so I, too, try to avoid the more extreme political threads here.

I'm not quite ready to apply for citizenship in Canada, but approx. 6000 Americans did during 2006 (according to a newspaper article I read a while back). Those of us here who work for positive change end up being called "unpatriotic." (Gee, now why does that sound so darned familiar? Hmmm- oh yeah, the Vietnam era! You'd think Americans would've learned something from that disaster!) Oh, oh - I'm ranting -- I'll go back to budgie topics now -thanks for letting me rant!

I feel better for having read this thread, so I am grateful to kiwibird2.

I feel that the current tone of a number of Americans, re this sort of subject, on this forum, is different from how it used to be.

Many have been critical of Bush and his actions for some time, but many others have also seemed proud of them.

I'm pleased to hear that more people are now unhappy with his behaviour.

I am very unhappy that he was able to share this awful state of affairs with our Mr Blair.

The Iraq war is an out and out tragedy and disaster.

Interesting... I'm disheartened to hear that some forum members were proud of Bush but "budgie owner" doesn't necessarily correlate with "liberal/progressive"! Supposedly 50% of Americans voted for him the second time, which still seems incomprehensible.

If I was rich i would buy an island and be my own president, get 100000000000 parakeets and import them to live with me and my hubby all alone away from politics.
