I am going to be cooking my first Thanksgiving with my in-laws here. They are from England. I've got my recipes and list of what to serve on Thanksgiving in a folder. I have a corn bread stuffing recipe in there. The kids LOVE it.
Don't know what my in-laws will think of all the food I will be cooking. And basically, only my husband helps out. I'm not keen on buttinskies trying to "help" and making something that normally takes a few minutes last for hours.
LOVE pumkin pie! I usually make at least two and direct people to bring more. We eat more pumkin pie than turkey on THanksgiving. But my in-laws have never tasted any.
I noticed in the South that only Sweet Potatoes are sold. So, I can't make my "candied" yams like I did back in Seattle. Over here, I have to make "candied" sweet potatoes. We eat tons of that as well, more than mashed potatoes and gravy.
Anybody else have to make two sets of stuffing, one in the bird and one out of the bird? I do. I have two different recipes.
Speaking of buttinskies, my mom MIGHT also be here for THanksgiving. She wants to have her own, so she doesn't have to spend it with my in-laws.
Don't know how this THanksgiving will be, with all the parents wanting to "help", a meal that I am very picky about how it's made, and then all the other members of the family, such as a "get-into-everything" three year old, with his "he can take care of himself" mother. Oh yeah, and my father-in-law will probably be chasing my cat through the house, running after him yelling "I hate you George", because George won't sit on his lap.
It'll be a nut house here for Thanksgiving.
