well chloe is doing good shes still tired but plays and stuff. she is going ot be ok. a blood feather honestly what i now is its a feather that is like a vein in it and if it breaks before its sealed off they gush blood

I'm so happy to hear the Chloester is feeling a bit better. It sounds like she will have a nice full recovery.

As for whether it happens often or not. I personally think it depends on the bird. I've never had a blood feather in some of my birds, others I have had a few, and then there is Louie... About 1-2 times a month he has one that bleeds. In fact he had one last night. It only bled a little and stopped in its own so I didn't have to take care of it so that was good, but there have been many times where I've had to stop the bleeding with flour.

Thats awful. Poor Louie! Is there anything about is on Lisa Shea's website? I don't think so because I have read all of it atleast twice but just in case...

I have only taken Tweety to the vet because he was bleeding quite a bit and there was no way I could pull the feather out because it was so close to his body. I've yet to pull one out myself and mainly just stop the bleeding with flour. Poor Louie does have to deal with this a lot. I wonder if it is genetic. He's the pretty, pale yellow guy on my avatar.

oh thank you 4keets i thought i was a horrible mommy cuz i couldnt get it out and had to rush her to the vet. ive never noticed one on sam chloe gets them all the time i just honestly didnt know you could get a tail feather blood feather. and rico ive seen them but hes never broken one
