Yes, you have a good point there.

Well, I was actually surprised that this was when the 'cultural awakening' was supposed to have happened. I expected them to say that it was much earlier.

Interesting!

This is a fascinating subject.

Then there's 'The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind' ~ book & theory by Julian Jaynes.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
'According to Jaynes, ancient people in the bicameral state would function in a manner similar to that of a modern-day schizophrenic. Rather than making conscious evaluations in novel or unexpected situations, the person would hallucinate a voice or "god" giving admonitory advice or commands, and obey these voices without question.'

But Jaynes doesn't even go back as far as 50,000 years.
Quote:
'he made the case that the bicameral mentality was the normal state of the human mind everywhere as recently as 3000 years ago'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicameralism_(psychology)

Yes, that is a theory that has been used for more modern times ~ so why not for back then?

You could be right, there. smile
