Put a cage outside and hope for the best.

I dont know what location you are in, but I know it's uber cold here in Michigan right now and a keet wouldn't fare well outdoors, so there wouldnt be a good chance of him returning.

mistakes happen. You're not automatically a horrible owner if something bad happens to your animals. Things happen, mistatkes happen, we learn from them and learn how to prevent such mistakes from happening again.

Keets, like all birds have very good eyesight. You said he had been outside before with you. Put out the cage and if there is music you play for them play it near the cage if you can. They also have very acute hearing. Calling helps because if he has not flown very far, he may hear the calling. You did not say if his wings are clipped. If the wind blew him and he didn't actually fly then try looking low because he will be on the ground trying to eat. Good luck and have hope. I would post flyers on poles also. And in the paper. You would be surprised how many times the bird flies down to someone and they capture them.

yes all good advice ... i volunteer at a snimal shelter and believe it or not get alot of keets that people do bring in becuase they found them outside and either they dont want them or dont know what to do with them or are fearful of disease the keet may have picked up or sadly the keet is injured.

i dont work in the bird area i pet puppies all day lol .. but since owning keets i go over their more often now. and we got a keet last night that has a broken wing:( poor baby ... her wings are clipped and she is obviously owned by someone she is trained ... she probally got out and the wind got her and she landed in a tree and tried to get loose but broke her wing in the process... the lady who brought her found her in a tree in her back yard ... she heard a bird screeching poor baby ... so we wait for the owner to call looking for a yellow bird .... if they dont call in a few weeks we give the bird away:(

so birds do get found, and they do come home ... when i was a kid we have 2 keets and one flew out a window like a bat out of hell lol ... 3 days later we found him sittin on that same window just waiting. he was done with his adventure and was ready to come home.

Well his wings are clipped and they are growing back they haven't grown back all the way about half way. Anyway some1 said the saw him down the hill by a hotel in a low tree. we came down there and there was no sign of him. He probably picked the worst day to fly away yesturday when he flew away it was really windy and it rained. Also the hotel has 2 cats, and there are tons of bigger birds. If he's still out there i don't think he will make it up the hill. I tried another way of getting him to come yesturday though i got 2 cages both really small i put my other keets in one cage and the other i had for him and i walked around the hotel while they called for him. Sadly that didn't work the wind has been blowing hard all night. Poor thing i asked the person that saw him she said she would catch him if she saw him again, sadly she hasn't seen him since yesturday along with everyone else at the hotel. I have tried everything u guys have suggested. Poor little Tiki i hate to think of what might have happened to him.

he didnt say he just that the day the bird escaped by accsident read the first post. And i rbing my keet outside he loves it and i have a scren in porch and he like the sound of water so when theres a strom i bring him out and he loves it

Put your birds cage out with lots of food and millet a lot of millet maybe you should sprinkle it on the ground also. Call him or make a recording of parakeets chirping and play it loud. Don't give up hope, you never know he might just hear it and come back! Good luck and let us know what happens.
