Jayde aka "Jadie Bird" died. I went to go get the mail, both keets were out and I thought they would be okay. My cat ended up having Jayde in his mouth when I came upstairs. It's all my fault I should of not let my guard down and now she is gone. I do not know what to feel right now except guilt and shock. My little baby is gone and it's all my fault. Poor Thor in all alone in his cage calling for her. I'm so very upset at myself. I don't know whether to get a new one or just wait. I'm just in shock right now, in between crying as I write this. I just wanted everyone to know what happened.

Don't tear yourself up too much, things like this happen. it's just important to use this as a learning experience and know that a cat's natural insticts can always take over, not matter how unlikely it seems

Oh my gosh! Not Jayde!! What a horrible thing to have happened! I think you should get Thor a friend soon if he really seemes to miss Jayde, but you should wait until you recover a bit.

Geez... that really is a horrible story. I hope people read this and realize you cannot trust another pet alone with your keets. They are fragile animals that can easily be preyed upon by other animals. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everybody.. I still feel horrible about this. I did go last night and got two little budgie friends for Thor. Bluebell and Ginger there very cute and I love them dearly. I still miss my little Jaydie it's going to be hard to even think that I replaced her. But I've got to love my two new babies and realize she is in a better place. Thank you all for your support it really helps to have supportive people and pet lovers behind you. It means alot to me me thank you all. *Hugs*

aww. the new guys have cute names. make sure to go through a quarantine period though, not only for making sure no illnesses are transmitted, but so that Thor has some time to grieve, he just lost friend too.

Please don't feel guilty about "replacing" her - you haven't really replaced her; it's not as though you love her any less - you've just found room in your heart for more friends.

Sigh mistake number two I should of read up before buying new keets. I'm totally bird dumb. Truth is I never knew you had to quarantine them.... they all seem fine. Should I take them out of the cage and put them in the old one? Or is is too late. I had to get a bigger cage because they didn't have enough room, this one is intended for a teil but my keets have alot of room. Crud I had no idea you had to do that. For how long? I mean Thor has already seemed to bond with his new cage mates.
