look at my avvy picture LUNA is female.

the pic in my signature is really bright b/c of the flash and there's some sort of glare. The 3 males do indeed have a blue cere. That's how that woman at the pet store picked them for me. They're not as dark blue as I've seen in other pictures, but I think that may be beacause they are still young?

Well, if they're still young, it's very hard/near impossible to tell.
I'd PM (private message) LLPB. She knows like EVERYTHING about breeding and is great with telling you what gender your keets are!

that's what I assumed, that I wouldnt much be able to tell. oh well, if it turns out that they're not the sex I thought, I'm not changing their names =] Then i guess i'll have some gender-confused keets lol

My friend on these forums, 4budgies, his three males named Belle, Grace, and Emma, while his one female is named Jake.

even witht he flash I'm pretty sure they're all young females, try taking a pic in natural light with no flash. I think that would make them easier to see.

typically young males have purplier ceres, young females are whitish blue.
White is the best sign of a female. Their ceres are layered, blue, then white then tan. The layers show over time so if its blue it may still be female. just it's white layer didnt grow in yet...


The only problem you may come across is if you have 3 females and two males. the two largest females will beat up on the smallest so they have their mates to themselve. However 3 boys and two girls wont be a problem.... the males arent as posessive lol

telling the correct sex can be hard.when I first came on the forum I had three keets snowie,sweetie and speckles;I thought speckles was a boy and sweetie a girl,well it turned out sweetie is a boy and speckles is a girl.I started to change the names around but changed my mind;because they were used to being called my certain names and I didn't want to confuse them since they responsed to their names.just to let you know speckles is the mean one out of the five keets I now have,she loves to pick fights and have her own way.

I wouldn't worry just like when I asked 3 buds if he got a 4th and it was a girl would he name it Charlie? LOL. Indeed he kept to the oposite naming and i think it's cute, your budgies know what they are anyhow they just aren't telling.:)
