I think that I am like this, too.
And I think that perception would indeed be a good subject for discussion.

Perception = the mass sum of our experiences and how we interpret those experiences = Our "Reality"
To explain, (this is purely my own opinion and it is not intended to be suggested that it is relative to EVERYONE... after all, thats subject to the individuals perception... isnt it?) We experience something, and create an emotional response around that event. When a similar occurance presents itself, we percieve it in the manner in which we rationalised the prior similar experience. Hence how rasicm can be bred. A child can see a person of a particular ethnicity do something wrong, that child can grow up with that imprinted emotion around a similar person in a similar situation. Their perception is that the result will be the same. The same could be said for opposing teams, a food products logo that has gotten bad press, the image of Jesus combined with grannys mints......
Please tell me that makes sense..... It's oh so clear in my head, but hard to put across on here.

Just want to get this thread back on track with this clip on intelligent design. Please note that Ray Comfort has since disavowed this silly example of Intelligunt Dezine, saying it was a joke. This wasn't a joke until it was pointed out to Ray and his idiot actor buddy, Kirk Cameron, that the banana was domesticated about 5,000 years ago.
Kirk Cameron, btw, graduated from his tv sitcoms to star in movie adaptations of Tim LaHaye's Left Behind series. What I find amusing about the Left Behind series is that the male characters have "gay porn" sounding names like Buck Williams and Rayford Steele.

masseur-ichi, That was an excellent example of a philosophy that I have long held. You can take anything and make up a story that will fit just what you are trying to promote.

hi--let me say yes to evolution. When i look at the developing human i womb, i see it follows the same course as the evolution of life. From a single cell, to multi cellular human, passining thru stages where at times there are even gills and later a tail. When i read any one of the many genesis accounts i see man created from the earth--same substance. Thats the beauty of it. The truth is in the beauty of the story or myth or scientific discovery, and not the words.--nicolo

Aww, you sound like a Buddhist or a Hindu. I agree with you what's cool about life, all life, is the commonality. I hope that people won't see this as an admission that there is a divine force at play. There may or may not be. But, I do know this: the idea that everything was created in a final, perfect state because the Creator is perfect is nonsense.
BLR, just want you to know that I appreciate the kind words!

I posted this on another thread:
[quote]Consider, [Dr. Ayala, a former Dominican priest] said, that at least 20 percent of pregnancies are known to end in spontaneous abortion. If that results from divinely inspired anatomy, Dr. Ayala said, “God is the greatest abortionist of them all.”

Not everything is created "perfectly" even though you can rationalize what "perfect" means.
That's a good point. People often say to me, how can you not believe in god - you are a doctor and you know how wonderful human body is . . . .
I often smile and say, 'You are not a doctor and you have no idea what a nonsense human body is . . . a perfectionist would have found other better and efficiant ways of making those organs function' . . .
Sleep, eating and defaecation are three of the most inefficient and imperfect mechanisms of hte body.
