My husband reminded me how old Scouser was when we got him, so he was only 6 1/2 years old, there abouts.
He used to eat millet like it was going out of style, and sometimes he'd choke on the shells, making that squeak sound. I was thinking that maybe Scouser choked to death on a shell. I read that that could happen.
I would feed the birds parakeet seeds, usually Eggcite, I think it's called. But then I'd add in carrots, sometimes apples. They all really liked carrots.
The photo I have of him was one of the last photos taken of him. He loved his bird seed, and would go and look at the bird on the cover when we had him out of the cage. We'd put a shallow bowl on the carpet with seeds in it, and then leave the seed bag nearby. He'd eat some seed, and run and look at the bag. He and Lennon were buddies, running around the carpet together. But in the cage, it was always City and Scouser.
When I tried to get Dover and Scouser to mate, I had them together. They were like that for several months. I finally put all the birds together, and City went ballistic, he was so happy to see Scouser, he kept trying to feed him, and would follow him all over the cage trying to feed him until Scouser would finally break down and let him.
I feel so bad for Lennon and City. They were really very close to Scouser. I feel as though I've lost my best friend.
