Why fight a battle that you CAN'T win?
i don't. but i wouldn't "help" them eat animals. ok, so i'm not trying to get you to stop cooking animals, but i'm trying to understand the way you thing about it. oh come on! we were talking about cooking TURKEY. I said that yes, I cooked the turkey last year. it's not like every night i throw a steak on the grill. Good lord. I was using that as one example that my whole life does not revolve around "ZOMG I CANT EAT ANIMALS, YOU MUSNT EAT ANIMALS- IT'S WRONG" I actually dont think I HAVE cooked any meat SINCE last thanksgiving. It's an exception because it was part of a meal that I offered to make. I dont like that you seem to be assuming I am "less" of a vegetarian because i cooked the turkey for thanksgiving. I mean, COME ON. I do not like being put on a different level as you, a seemingly lesser level, because you wouldnt ever do something like that. I dont put myself on a higher level than anyone else because i choose not to eat meat, i expect the same in return. Is it me or is the topic reaching an extreme? lol ya think? LOLZ

Samiya, the point of the was, if i was somewhere and there was nothing for me to eat i would kill the chicken, end of story an I have no qualms with it. The chair arm comment was not quite what one would call witty but point taken, humans are able to eat whatever food they feel like eating. I dont remember any of us saying we were carnivores we were saying we're omnivores (hate to break it to you, we are) And just because I honestly didnt get through that entire long post before and have since noticed something, you say our teeth and naisl cant rip an animal limb from limb... for those of you who studied evolution, what is the one thing that separates primates from other animals aside from thumbs... tools. my nails and teeth might not rip flesh but knives bows and hunting rifles do.
now that I've gotten that out of my system I should remind you, no I didnt say that to offend you, I have other goals for the day, I said it cuz it's what I think and believe. Samiya-PEOPLE EAT MEAT... A LOT OF US... to live in the adult world something you need to learn is acceptance, you can't goaround attacking people for being different there will always be people you have to deal with, work with, and (oh my) they might even marry in to your family... that you wont agree with, just because you don't agree doesnt mean 'you've got to be joking' is the right response. So as previously stated, take a deep breath and think to yourself ok, i dont agree, but i dont have to, it's a free country.

To no surprise, this kind of topic is always getting quite intense.
Since I’m not sure on how quoting works in forum, I’ll just put down some thoughts throughout the responses from everyone.
Certainly, humans and animals are on different levels of intelligence – but the difference between human’s and animals’ Physiology & Anatomy cannot be ignored (stomach acidity & intestinal length).
Vegetarian is not a simple diet. People will get sick if they do not obtain sufficient amount of nutrients. The lack of protein is usually a common question, but complete of protein can be achieved through absorbing a combination of different food sources (nuts, greens, soy beans, milk, etc.) in a meal. (I'm not a vegan, and never plan to be one so I have no comment on that).
Human lifespan is largely increased with the improvements of science, technology, and medicine compared to the hunting time. Our diet is a major problem nowadays, so I doubt if that helps to increase the life span very much.
Vegetables and plants sure have feelings but their consciousness and pain level is very minimal compared to animals. Besides, plants do grow back – to even bigger and greener.
I know everyone has his/her own opinion so this can be an endless discussion.
However, since this is a parakeet forum, I do have one question I'd like to ask. In some cultures, birds are known to be a very common dish, delicious too. How would you feel if people start eating birds here (pigeon, etc.) in compared to eating chicken or turkey? Would that make it less humane? If yes, why?
