mbas you missed the point of both the toaster comparison and the code comparison. The point of it is compared to a God who could create an entire universe, be anywhere at any time, and exist outside of what we call time and space, we are nothing. The creation can never become greater than it's creator because it is simply a creation.
We can never hope to attain God's knowledge, understanding and abilities because we are not God. Essentially I'm simply saying that we need to know our place in the grand scheme of things. We are a creation with a purpose and a design. We have simply a spark or touch of the creator and that is our free will, our soul. We can never hope to out shine our creator, and are subject to His laws.
The problem is that we are also not perfect. It is that imperfection that seperates us from our creator since He is perfect and cannot have imperfection around Him. That imperfection (sin) is pushed away like magnets of like poles.
The beauty of the Gospel, and where God's love comes across is that even with all of our imperfections God loved us enough to become man and take on these imperfections to overcome them for us.
The hurricanes, the birth defects are not God's doing but part of the imperfection that is our world. We have caused our own demise. We pollute the air we breath, pump thousands of chemicals into the food we eat, destroy millions of acres of trees every year in the name of progress. How else is the planet and our bodies going to react? We have introduced the very mutagens that are causing cancer. We have introduced the pollutants that are causing weather changes. How is any of that God's fault?
A child born disfigured is not done by God, He allows it because it is the consequence of our sin. I believe that part of the original sin didn't just mark us spiritually, but physically. I believe that as a result our bodies are not evolving, or overcoming certain things, but instead are breaking down. That is the purpose of a mutation, it never strengthens the victim it always makes them weaker. Sure we seem to be able to cure alot more than we did, but there also seems to be much more to cure now.
While I can see the creator's right to do with us as He pleases, I can also appreciate the fact that He's chosen to be forgiving and make a way for us to reconcile with Him.

Correct PDM forgive me for having a simplistic, primitive mentality. Argyll is a more advanced, educated human who has evolved way beyond me in that arena.
PLEASE!!! Can you ever just read someone's opposing view and take it for just that? Why is it that if the view does not fall within your narrow atheistic world view it’s simply too simplistic and antiquated? For someone who claims to be perfect, you sure have a huge gaping hole in the people skills area.
PDM the Bible does read rather simply that in the beginning man sinned against God. With sin came death, both spiritual and physical. The Bible also states that God limited the amount of time of a human life to 120 years.
I feel that this physical death is not simply just dying. I believe that when death entered the world, along came mutations. Now for those of you who believe in evolution and believe that mutations bring about good changes, go and find one. Mutations have never been seen to add information to an organism, or to enhance it in any way. X-Men aside mutations have only been shown to corrupt the organism.
What does this mean for us now? Simple, we are a copy of a copy of a copy…… many generations removed from the original. As a result many mutations or negative changes have entered our genetic makeup like noise on a re-recorded tape recorded one two many times. I believe that this is a consequence of original sin, but the result is that people are born with birth defects. Did God want or intend for this to happen? I don’t believe so no. Did God allow for this to happen? Yes, because it is the result of our free will.
