I can accept that I am simply a created being with no more importance than the software I write, able to be rewritten or deleted by my creator simply because I am not as efficient as what the creator would like.
One of the issues we've discussed is the apparent callousness of God towards his creation - wiping out civilizations, killing babies, etc.
Believer posted the above in another thread and I thought it deserved its own commentary.
Are we as humans only as valuable as lines of code?
We brought up Battlesar Galactica on another thread. Are we just God's Toasters?
Is that our "great purpose" to be discarded by God whenever the whim strikes Him? Is that what hurricanes and tornados and earthquakes are for? To exercise God's whimsome nature towards his toasters?
And of what children born with birth defects? Less valuable to God? And why doesn't God heal amputees?
I know if I were to tell my children that they are worth nothing more than a few lines of code to me, they would grow up and rebel and turn to drugs and hate me too. Isn't that what you claim that we "humans" are doing to our creator? Where is the sin - from the creator telling us we are a bunch of worthless beings, to be discarded at will?
Isn't that what you are claiming God thinks of us? Mere lines of code to be discarded, rewritten, tossed aside at will?
If so, that's the best argument for being an atheist I have ever heard.
This is no God I want any part of.
