I odn't care how old, or how many when it comes to the "master/mistress" every pet is an only child in their mind. My newest rescue dog is a little 10 pound ****zu. He INSISTS on chasing the cats out of the house. He is spending so much time in time out in the cage. But slowly he is getting better and thinking before he acts. I would not even consider "deserting" him because of this, he just needs to be worked with. If the original owners had taken the time with him, he would never have ended up on the street and eventually in my arms. Most (95%) of pets in shelters are there because of behavior problems the owner's did not want to take the time and effort to correct. Dogs/cats/birds etc are NOT HUMAN CHILDREN and should not be expected to act like it.
