Well apparently Ben had some control over the smoke monster cause he turned it loose on the bad guys from the freighter.
I believe, tho, that it is another tool of Jacob's for protecting the island. That's why Locke could face it without fear of harm. Jacob would not harm Locke.

Yeah, the writers seem to have forgotten about some of the key questions about the show. Such as the numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42) and the smoke monster.

Those are also good questions. They have never shown Jacob and the writers have not revealed the answers to the mysteries yet.

I have heard that they will end the series in 2010. The next seasons will only be from Jan/Feb to May. UGH! But they are doing a great job keeping us interested for that long a break.

Unfortunately, I believe Claire is dead. I hope I am wrong, but I feel she would never have left Aaron. And she is so calm, except when she told Kate not to dare bring Aaron back to the island.

But I have been wrong about a lot of things so who knows?

Anyone watched "Chuck"? (this point may have ben raised before, seeing as how we opften get shows well after the US)

"Chuck" was remote speaking after being showed stills, and in amongst several fictional "hstorical" revelations pertaining to the pics hes was viewing was the comment "Flight Oceanic 815 was shot down by........" after a shot of a passenger plane was shown.

Do the makers of "Chuck" and the makers of "LOST" have anything to do with each other?

If the island can make the crippled walk, and have cancer victims free of the disease, why not bring the dead back to life.

I have heard that as well. ABC gave them 48 episodes to play with and the writers decided to make 3 seasons out of it -- each 16 episodes long. But because of the writer's strike this season was only 13 episodes long (14 if you count each hour of the finale). I really hope that they extend the 5th season to make up for the 3 episodes we were cut short.

Oh never mind, I just googles Chuck and see it's another series. Hmmm interesting since the shows are on different networks.

I thought she died when her, Aaron, Sawyer etc were residing in the others village and they were attacked. RPG took out the cabin she was in when Sawyer was desperatley trying to get there to warn her.
Possibly the same episode where Bens daughter was killed.

Noooo, definitely not. I definitely remember her house blowing up btu the Sawyer icked her up and ran back to the house Locke was in. Then the front door was jammed shut so Hurley threw a chair through the window. Etc etc etc. Then Claire woke up and siad she was okay but a bit dizzy. Then Alex got shot. Sawyer, Aaron, Claire and Miles then hiked off to go to the beach camp while Hurley, Ben and Locke went off to the Orchid and Jacob's Cabin. While Sawyer, Claire and Miles were sleeping in the jungle, Claire got up in the middle of the night and saw Christian Shepard and she walked off with him. Then, Sawyer woke up and found Aaron on a large leaf alittle bit from where they were sleeping. Then, Locke saw both Christian and Claire in Jacob's cabin.

Very confusing. I' not sure why they were in Jacob's abin instead of Jacob.
