Finally! Olivia and Petey have a hatchling!

Olivia is very good about making sure her baby is warm, but I did manage to get her to move off it for these two pictures before she squawked and got back to being a mom.

I did candle the second egg tonight and saw that it was really runny inside, so I tossed it so she would concentrate on baby alone.

ok, is olivia a cockateil? and peteys a keet? is that possible for them to mate, thats cool!

Emory, they are both keets. As you can see in the picture, Olivia is the mom and she is a keet. Tiels and Keets CANNOT breed. Also from looking at her avatar, you will see there are 4 keets and no signs of a tiel.

I'm not quite sure if Olivia is an Albino. Her eyes are red, but they are a dark red; almost hard to tell. I'm not sure what this means the baby may be, it's exciting to have something to look for.

This morning as I'm getting ready for work I heard the baby sqwaking...it was soooo loud! So I went to check to see what the heck is going on. Come to find out it was upset because mommy had left it... To my surprise she was sitting in the entrance of the nest box being fed, by BOTH Petey & Baby!!!! When one bird was regurgitating, the other was feeding her. Boy, Olivia may make a quick recovery (mom birds tend to look shabby throughout all this), and baby is going to be FAT and HEALTHY!!!

Yes, I'm keeping an eye on the boys and their interactions within the cage. If things start to get tense, I'll remove Baby (male bird, not the chick), but for now there seems to be a happy, yet odd triad family atmosphere.

Tonight I'll try to get some better pictures, I may have to use mannual focus on my camera to get better details. Gosh, I don't even want to leave now!!!

Sounds like they are being good parents. When my bf's mom bred Lulu and Max, Kenya's parents....Max was a good Daddy and she didn't have to remove him from the cage. I think it all depends on the nature of the bird.

That's OK.

I think she looks big because she's in a nest box, so her surroundings are small. Add to that a tiny baby, about the size of an acorn nut, and of course she looks big.

I think out of all my birds Petey is the biggest. Camille is the smallest (other than baby).

I love my birds! I'm just so excited! I hope all goes well.
