Couldn't have phrased it any better!

My keets are getting jiggy with it

OK, here are the latest pictures of Miko... She's full grown now, so these are the last pictures I'll post of her within the breeding forum. (She gets to graduate to the rest of the keet forum.)

I took these pictures on the 3rd...after I clipped her wings for the first time. Up until then, she was always anxious for me to take her out of the cage, spend time with me, and fly over to visit Baby and Camille on top of their cage. I noticed that Camille started nipping at Miko's feet, and Miko wouldn't come to me, and started flying around out of my reach. So, for her safety I decided to clip her wings. I didn't want to do this until after she had learned to fly...so now that she's established, her flight feathers have been clipped. She obviously was upset with me, and there's a trust we're working on rebuilding. She's not as excited to see me these days, and she holds her wings up in a goofy manner since I clipped her. I know I didn't hurt her, there was no blood, everything was quick, but it feels different for her, and she has taken many leaps where she ends up fluttering to the floor...

Here Miko is looking at me in a leary manner right after I clipped her. She's soooo dang cute! This picture doesn't show it, but she's a periwinkle color, turning to blue on the bottom of her belly. The colored feathers on her cheeks are actually purple.

OK, maybe some millet might make me happy...



You can't bribe me forever with millet!!! My wings! My wings are GONE!!!



OK, millet kisses may help a bit, for a little while...



Here's some videos...you can see she's mad at me, you can see how she holds her wings up funny. Miko eventually ends up in her cage, as far away from me as she feels comfortable, puts her back to me, and peeks at me from over her shoulder. Poor baby! She's coming around since then.





These pics and the video were taken on my cell phone, so the quality may not be the best.

Also, an update on Olivia... she's sitting on another clutch, and I think maybe one egg is viable. I talked to my vet and found out the egg-suppressing shot is $25. When she's done with this clutch, I'll be taking her in since she's become a compulsive egg layer.

Thanks for the final update! Miko has amazing markings. Glad that you are giving Olivia an egg-suppressing shot -- it's the right thing to do.

Just one thing... that posture with the wings is her saying she's in charge... i forget when i read it... it's called the eagle pose or something and it's to claim territory... Nouba does it on her boing all the time when she's telling the boys to stay away

she's beautiful though!!
