I used this guide when I did Aruba's wings, my daughter helped me and we both read this first and studied the pictures. All went well and Aruba was unharmed during the actual clipping process.

I'm going to use this guide when I clip my keets' wings this summer. My dad and I will clip them ... Aruba, did Aruba act like a wild keet when you clipped his wings? I think I need to talk to you about your experience a tad more.

I think that if you hold the keet properly it makes all the difference! If I'm not holding the keets right, they are fidgety and nervous...otherwise, I've not had any problems with the wing clipping...However...I think that I cut Lily's wings too short! Poor baby...just plops to the floor...I'm not planning to cut again for a while...I like to see the keets flying up to the cage when they get to the floor...makes my life easier...no chasing them around for ten minutes!

3 buds, no he just laid there. I used a light weight towel and my daughter held him while I fanned out his wing and cut. He was a good boy! I was the one shaking like a leaf!! LOL

time for a bump - this is handy but if you have never clipped wings the first time you may want to have someone experienced (vet, vet tech) do it and show you

No offense for all the people who want to train their keets so they clip their wings, I'm my opinion I think people don't want to spend the time to hand and perch train them so they clip their wings so they have to sit on their fingers. Birds have wings they are ment to use them. If God didn't want birds to fly freely he woulsnt have given them wings. I see why people do it, for the saftey of their birds but if you have a keet safe room you shouldn't need to worry about them flying away. Flying is the number 1 type of excirsise for a bird. They need flying. And it is very disheartening watching a bird try to fly to it's cage top and not be able to. So I'm sorry if I oriented anyone cuz that wasn't my intent I just don't think birds shouldn't have their wings clipped.
