I posted not long ago about finding a kitten in my motor that I ended up giving to my boys' grandmother. There were other kittens as well and I found out that the owners of the mother tossed her and the kittens out once she had them. I'm fairly certain that she roamed outside a lot and wasn't the least bit taken care of. I was able to get the rest of the kittens to the SPCA and am glad to know that they've all been adopted. I have been leaving food out for the mother, in hopes that I'd find her.

This morning however, I did find her, but she was already dead. I don't know for how long or what happened. I think she was attacked by other cats maybe or some of the wilder animals we have living around here. Maybe even some of the many fighting pitbulls I see around here. I don't know. What was sad was that she was not too far from the owner's home like she was trying to get back inside maybe? My heart is breaking and though she wasn't my pet, she was still just as precious.

I buried her behind my area with permission of the landlord who though said that he personally couldn't press charges on the people said I could bury her on the property. I kind of feel like I failed her. Like I didn't try hard enough to find her and save her life. She could be in someone's loving arms right now.

So this is in memory of the sweet momma cat.

That is so touching. You didn't fail her-many would not have done a thing! She's probably on my Mom's lap!

Awe you did what you could. And now all her kits have a home with good food and love. They would be motherless and wandering if you had not stepped in. Rest in Peace Sweet Mama kitty...

You did what you could. And you saved her babies. At least you gave her a proper burial. May sweet mama rest in peace.

I wonder if someone poisoned her. To my surprise there are more people in this world that do this.
I am sorry about your mother cat. As time passes, you will come to terms with it when you are ready. It is ok to mourn and have feelings. Maybe the mother cat was ok with dying since she knew you saved her kittens. She was at peace.

I'm glad you did what you could do for that cat family. Even though having to bury the mother was heartbreaking. She was a sweet cat who deserved better from her owners.

I just don't understand how people can be so cruel. If they didn't want their cat to have kittens, they should get them fixed.

We adopted our cat Iris when she was about 6 months old. Her owner tossed her out when he discovered she was expecting kittens. He didn't want the kittens and stopped feeding her. I had heard about her, and when I saw her, belly dragging on the ground, she was so tiny! My husband and I just scooped her up and took her home. She's been with us for...gee, it's been about 5 years now.

Reading your post, just makes me so glad that I was able to save my Iris.

Oh, that poor mother cat. It's so sad and so cruel.

But you did your best DeShanna ~ don't feel guilty for the wrongs of others.

Aww its not your fault, you did EVERYTHING you could to help those kittens and the mother, I'm sure she is very thankful that you helped her kittens and she is watching over them.
