the only reason i made this post is because over the time ive been here a few people say how horrible [animal cruelty] is but they dont say what they could do or what they did to help prevent it. ive seen a ton of those types of posts, not just yours. i felt like i was keeping important information from everyone, thats why i decided to let everyone know how i felt. its not because of your post that i decided this was how i felt. its because everyone on Myspace posted this thing on animal cruelty which made me cry and some of the old users that dont come here anymore posted things like that too. yours just helped me post this topic, 3keets. plus, yours did cause 2 videos to be reported which is good. maybe if we keep that up most of the people can get charged for the cruelty...maybe :]

I don't want to disagree with you, BUT, any person that can make such a video condoning the cruelty of animals is NOT going learn the error of their ways. Yelling at that person isn't going to do a darn thing, it's all one big joke to them. YouTube has to take some responsibility and be more aware of what's being shown and reject videos that are harmful.

I agree that youtube needs to take some responsiblity about what is on there. But...simply not showing the videos will NOT stop all abuse. Maybe it is better that we see what really goes on and try to deal with that, than to pretend it doesn't happen just because we don't see it.

Totally agree with you, but how do we stop the abuse?? When purchasing a parakeet, or any other animal, how do we screen the perspective owner? How can we possibly know what their plans are for this animal? I hate to say this, but abuse is always going to continue. I'm confused, when animals are abused, animal police will arrest them. Anyone that puts such an abusive video on YouTube or anywhere else should be arrested. Because it's just a parakeet, it isn't considered abuse and cruelty? These sick individuals need to be taught a lesson BIGTIME.

I understand where you were coming from. Believe me I feel horrible that I couldn't think of what to do. I'm not mad at all that you posted this, I think you are right in what you've said.

This is what I've read so far "Unfortunately, the Animal Welfare Act doesn't cover birds". I have seen the show Animal Cops step in when someone is hoarding birds, but never anything on bird abuse.

that would be a good place to start...get some of the laws changed. (i know easier said than done, wouldn't know how to)
