Yeah, thousands of animals get slaughtered every day for food. And becoming vegetarian/vegan probably isn't going to do much about that. But does that mean you still shouldn't do what you believe is right? How do you feel about vegetarianism and veganism?

I'm not vegetarian, but I get closer to being one all the time. I eat practically no red meat, but I do eat chicken and fish.

When I was a child and first discovered what 'meat' was, I wanted to stop eating it, but my parents explained that the animals only existed in the first place because they would become food and, well, I carried on.

Over the years, I have eaten less and less meat. I can hardly bear to look in ~ or smell! ~ a butchers shop. It makes me feel as if humans are practically cannibals.

I think, because it was the norm to eat meat, and that is what I have grown up with, it seems normal. If I had grown up in a vegetarian family, I don't think that it would have ever felt right.

I do know 'vegetarians' who have gone back to meat-eating, which is a bit surprising. One said that it was because of (a message from) God ~ if 'He' put food before her, she should eat it.

I agree with their cause, I'm just not one. I don't think it's necessary to be one. And I enjoy my meat.

I don't understand, Yowo.
How can you agree with 'the vegetarian cause' but not think that it is 'necessary to be one'?

My youngest and I are not vegetarians. Xavier as mentioned in another post has become one and is doing very well with it. I know it's going to sound sick, but I actually "crave" meat at times so I don't know how well that will go for me.

its a choice people have to make personally ... and should be pushed on others.

i was vegan for 4 yrs .. ... vegan isnt just your diet, its your lifestyle, you can have ANY animal product, no leather or anything. i found that part much harder to do that the dietary part.

i have never been a big meat eater, as a kid id give my sister my meat and she would give me her veggies HAHA Id cry when my mom made fried chicken, because we had chickens on my grandparents farm.

I grew up around animals or all sorts, and i was a kid so they were my friends .... i talked to them everyday, i fed them, i played with them. so the thought of eating one was absolutely horrifying to me.

but then i come from a culture that is BIG on meat haha ...try tellin ur greek grandmother u dont eat meat LMAO

ive never liked red meat and rarely ever eat it. I do like sonic hamburgers but i never get past the 2nd bite ... ever frown
to me red meat tastes like blood and i cant stomach it.

I cook it alot because my husbands loves it.

I do eat chicken about 2-4 times a month, i cook it constantly as my husband eats it. But most times i just eat the pasta or something else.

I eat ALOT of boca and garden burger stuff ...loooove it!!! i made chicken fajitas last week and my husband said they were the best he ever had and how did i make the chicken it was so flavorfull and yummy

i then showed him the bad ... it contained no meat at all, nothing but veggies HAHA i do that to him ALOT LOL you would think he would get it by now though...

i also eat alot of salmon ... i cant stop .. im addicted and i love it frown i feel bad that this poor fish was raised just to be killed and put on my plate though frown i hate that.

and i cant give up honey ... i dont care ...i cant do it LMAO ... and thats why im not vegan, honey, cheese and salmon

HAHA

Well, I like it that people are not eating meat, because of personal views, and such. Would a world where everyone who could afford to be was a vegetarian be better? Yes. Just because it's a good cause doesn't mean I have to do it. For example, obviously the Red Cross is a good cause. Do you have to give them money every time they call to support them?

I personally could never make it as a vegetarian, I just like meat too much. I admire and respect those who are committed to it and can stick to it.

I have known some people though that just "go vegetarian" because it is "the" thing to do and not because of what they believe. That I DO NOT respect.
