I think that some newspapers are more decent & reliable than others. And we do need to know what's going on in the world.

Of course we need to use our brains, too, and not believe everything we read, just because it's in print.

i agree. unfortunately most people cannot be trusted with enough intelligence not to swallow everything they are told, which is why they are so easily manipulated.

as for reliable papers - i'm not inclined to trust any of the big circulations. you'll get more sense out of the big issue on the whole.

unfortunately none of those wield any significant influence, so in the grand scheme of things they are irrelevant. sad but true.

i've just had a look at the sites you listed, and i must say - they don't exactly look like seious forces of activism. the young turks share their name with a belfast loyalist group which spawned the shankhill butchers (nice choice), indymedia looks random and disorganised to me, and the peacepunk thing - well, i read a few threads and it looks like a bunch of resentful teenagers to me. could be wrong, but thats the impression i get.

i get more sense form prison planet - i'm a bit of an alex jones fan, although he's definietely a bit over the top on occasion, socialist review - top stuff, and the thruth network. its well worth keeping an eye on john pilger and al jazeera as well.

unfortunately no-one in the independent media will make a difference until they reach majority audiences, which they won't because they are all long stitched up by the corporate media.

The Young Turks is probably the most reliable. Indie-Media is big enough for one of their members to be beaten and arrested in some South American country. Peacepunk just basically is a forum that gets news from other sources and shows it. And yes, we are a bunch of resentful and angry teenagers.

nothing wrong with being an angry teenager - ive been one for over 25 years! its heartening to see the young ones look elsewhere for the truth. keep looking!
