Is the US press 'Left Wing'?

That's no secret.

This is from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Quote:
'Left-wing politics'

In politics, left-wing, the political left, or the Left are positions that seek to reform or abolish the existing social order in favor of a more equal distribution of wealth and privilege. In general, the left advocates a society where all people have an equal opportunity, ..... ... the left tends to support labor unions, worker cooperatives and sometimes communes. ...
...
Ideologies considered part of the left include; Progressivism, Social liberalism, Social democracy, Left-libertarianism, Socialism, Syndicalism, Marxism, Communism, Autonomism.
...

Are you suggesting that the American press is Socialist?
Or Communist!?

That's very odd!

No, the press is not left-wing. It is mostly democratic, which is "center left". In other words, just a slight bit away from conservatives.

The media is evil. They only spread light on what they want to spread light on. Whatever they hate they show as immoral or bad. They twist interviews, NBC nearly caused a third world war with the president of Iran's interview.

Fox (faux) news is not conservative. They do not present the news in a reasonable fashion enough to be considered "media." It's public relations for the government. They lie so much, on top of occasionally being racist. They called Obama's fist pump a terrorist fist jab.

actually, i would tend to agree with that:

look at the hatred the british tabloids whip up against minorities and immigrants.

the wreckage they leave behind when they've chewed up the latest britney spears.

the destruction they visit on peoples private lives.

the readiness with which they become the mouthpieces of corrupt governments, and spew their lies.

then look at people like john pilger. can't get work in the murdoch press, can he?

can anyone name me one single potentially explosive situation in the past 100 years which the press has actively smoothed and defused instead of inflaming it with words designe to whip uop hatred and hysteria? because i haven't seen one yet.

if the media sees a scratch, it will turn it into a decapitation every time because it makes a better story.

the press and media have become a carefully honed tool for scaring the xxxx out of us abd turning us into paranoid individuals, and in that it has largely succeeeded. the media should be apolitical in its agendas, and a lot more carefully controlled than it is. the freedom of the press is both a fallacy and a massive mistake.

I agree that the press can and does do that ~ but not all of the press, surely?

The Guardian?
The Independent?

there is no such thing as independent media. it doesn't matter which side of the pond you're on, you're listening to the murdoch machine.

and i don't think the guardian and independent are much better. a little more highbrow and subtle, yes. different, no.
