Just a general question here, but, if no one buys these animals, what happens to them?? What if Aruba and Cayman had been left at the store? If the store is really that bad, then what would happen to them left there??

i agree with your caribbean all of my animals are from petsmart or petco except my lizards. i have had no problems with any of them coming to me sick. i would rather rescue them from these stores if they are so "bad" then let them rot there.

It's that mentality that allows these companies to get away with what they do.

the federal government took action against petsmart !!!!

peta has taken action, aspca has taken action ... i mean come on ... all that isnt cuz petsmart is such a lovely company.

and the ONLY reason petsmart has done any thing is because they have been pushed into it by legal rulings against them.

they have a company policy of freezing budgies ALIVE to be returned to the breeder if they are ill.

i know this because of investigations into it, from peta, aspca, and the government. i know of employees who were told plane and simply that if they didnt obey this policy they would be fired!!!!

is every petsmart employee bad?? of course not, many of the PEOPLE who work for petsmart are good dcent people who love animals.

that doesnt mean the company does.

Well unfortunately not all of us have alot of options when it comes to these stores. Louie is from Petsmart and has been my healthiest keet! Never sick and super sweet. (that rhymed lol)
Our store is clean and the birds are well taken care of from what I can tell.
Any who.. We have several others in town with conditions that are super appalling. Petland- (I got Basil from them) lets anyone and everyone touch the birds. I have seen college kids go in just to squeeze and torture the birds there. Basil was sick for 2 months after I got him and has a broken breast bone (healed of course but with lots of scarring). Petware house is what that video shows. Nasty nasty nasty. I have reported them several times.

Thats it. If I need bird food in a pinch or other supplies those are my choices. So I buy from Petsmart because they are the best in the area. I cant always afford to go online. I am not working as much and well sometimes shipping is very pricey. SO I have to feed my keets. Plus with all the sick issues and Edgar issues vet care is more important. So I have to save some $$ somewhere. So its off to Petsmart.

Well I got Aruba from a pet store , not PetSmart. But Petsmart seems to have healthy animals. I do know all petsmarts get all their animals from the same breeder. I asked at the petsmart near me and they said all the stores get them from the same breeder. I am not sure I will buy a live animal from there now, they are the only pet store near me who sell good products for my bird aruba. I may just have to buy my stuff online though after seeing that video. I was also thinking of looking for a job there but now I don't think I will. That video broke my heart. Thanks for posting.

i have no doubt that petsmart has healthy keets, sincei know what they do to the ones that arent!!!!!!!! the ones that arent healthy are not shown.

but i do understand people not having an option and thats the evil is the corporation. they take a monopoly and leave you with no other options.

petland is horrible beyond comparison and many (most actually) stores in the usa have been closed down because of it.

i do go online for alot of stuff though. petdiscounters.com is awesome
