I know I've already made a post called this but that was like forever ago, so I'm making it again.

Anyways, this book is really good! smile There's a movie of it too on PBS. It's written by a man who feeds the cherry-headed conures who live in California (they're wild). He has some stories about the birds that are really touching.
It's also about his life a little, which is interesting because he used to be homeless, and he still does not have a job.

Here's his website: http://www.markbittner.net/

Here's the film's website: http://www.wildparrotsfilm.com/

this is a very good film. i have the dvd.

i really enjoyed the fact that he didnt try to cage and harness the birds and make them his "pets"

he left them alone and let them come to him if they chose to.

he did cage a couple but he tried to not do that.

I liked that too. He usually just took in the sick ones and let them go. Except that one that refused to leave lol.

LOL - that one looked so forlorn, like "I promise I'll be good now -- it's scary out here!"

Love the DVD; am keeping an eye out for the book...

This film was recommended to me. I liked it, but it made me sad because his retelling of Tupelo's death reminded me of my budgie when he was ill. I like the film because I think it helps people who are not familiar with birds to know how much personality birds have.

I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. I found Tupelo's death to be so sad, and obviously Mark so regrets not holding her.

Mingus was hilarious with his nest possessiveness too, although I didn't like that Mark "punished" him by putting him outside where he was so frightened.

Anyway, the book has been added to my TBR list.
