Given a choice, I would deem reasonable health as important.
But if health is neither "good" nor too "reasonable," I think you can still have the love (and the other things I mentioned).
People who live in pain, or with major disorders or conditions or diseases certainly learn the value of life and love.
Of course, I just realized, even if the health is poor, or even of an unreasonable nature, it's still important to one (and to others as well), isn't it?
So pardon my critique, PDM, please. When I started to answer the question, I thought about what might make life unbearable ~ that helped me to decide on the important things in life. So, while the obvious answer is that the love, safety, health & happiness of my loved-ones ~ and indeed their very existence & company ~ is most important to me, there are some health problems that I hear of people enduring, which, I feel, would make life unbearable. When I think of those who are completely paralysed, for example, and cannot even communicate, I feel that this would be unbearable. I know that depression can be unbearable, too. Good health is a bonus; reasonable health can make the difference between a happy life and hell on earth. That's just my opinion, of course. And I know that this may sound trivial, but I get really excited about my hobbies and interests and, if I ever lose that excitement, I start to feel depressed ~ real depression that is ~ so when you mentioned something about the mind's spiritual growth, or something to that effect, Carl, that really meant something to me, too.

Also, PDM. You are quite correct about the unbearable health problems and about the quality of life.
I cannot imagine wanting to hold onto life if I cannot think or interact.
And yet, despite what I think (or believe about an after-life), something within most of us holds onto life.
It's like the country & western song says, "I wanna go to heaven, but I don't wanna go today."
So I guess we have to think about what our loved ones should do if we are unable to make a medical decision. Of course, there are problems, even, with that, as well.
But the New Year has just begun, so let's get back to the friendship. Should Auld Acquaintances be forgotten?
New people on here introduce themselves, and we interact, and it is nice. Some we remember and wonder about who no longer post. But some drop in every now and then. And that's nice, too.

Yeah it could get a little confusing, but we can handle it. In the miscellaneous section, we did a tv and movie trivia thing (and I would have liked adding books, as well) and we decided that the more questions the better. It was fun.
I rechecked Big Bad Momma's post, and on my screen (page 4), it showed as 10:45 p.m., and she shows N.Y. as her locale, so it was a little early.
But nobody objected at the time, and while it's not your really light-hearted question, it's still a good one.
Now, let's see if I can lighten up the discussion about the important things in life:
Anybody wannna guess what is important to the males? (speaking generically, of course). Their appetites (and satisfying them), naturally.
There is such a thing as noblesse oblige, but that tends to be AFTER the belly is full.
And for the females - what about shopping and chocolates/sweets (or avoiding them).
Is that provocative enough?

I was referring to the question you posted near the end of your other post # 345039 ... Should Auld Acquaintances be forgotten? I thought you were going onto a new question again already..lol. But I take it we are still on the Important things in life..question..right. At least until midnight, forum time..lol! As for women, you mentioned chocolate...as for chocolate being an important thing in life...for me...yep, that is one things I live for...hehe! lol..just some humor! Chocolate can also be very fun..in many ways Enlighten us, Carl.. as to what else, besides food is important to men :P
