So are gators actually huge in population in the country and a danger?

Yep - there are a lot of gators in Florida. They can be huge but not like crocs. At times gators will get a pet. And it is hard to keep ducks or geese in a pond unless you fence it.

Being Fat Tuesday and close to Detroit which has one of the largest Polish populations in the country - well actually there is a city Hamtramck which is surrounded by Detroit and that is the big Polish community, there were massive amounts of Paczki at work, there was a Mardi Gras / Paczki social hour this morning with lots of leftovers sitting around all day to tempt us and then we had a workshop tonight with ... yes more Paczkis. For those of you who dont know of them (I never heard of them till I moved to Detroit)
Although they look like bismarcks or jelly doughnuts, paczki (pronounced ponchki but mistakenly pronounced poonchki or punchki)are made from especially rich dough containing eggs, fats, sugar and sometimes milk. They feature a variety of fruit and creme fillings and can be glazed, or covered with granulated or powdered sugar. Prunes and rose-petal jam are traditional fillings, but many others are used as well, including lemon, strawberry, Bavarian cream, blueberry, custard, raspberry and apple.

And there are areas that you wouldn't want to swim in - lakes, ponds, and the like.

But then, there's sharks at the ocean.

Maybe the pool and hot tub is the safest? And that can get dangerous enough.

My Trippi cat is making out like a bandit since my MIL moved in. Not too many people who come in our house get to see too much of her. But Mom decided she liked her. And when she saw how Trippi liked the treats we gave her (sparingly), she bought some. And she learned which kinds Trippi likes and which she doesn't like. And so Trippi begs for treats. And then she expects more from me, too. I'm afraid she is getting almost as pear-shaped as I am.

Cetan, sounds like a fun time. I could definitely enjoy one with bavarian cream, although the rose-petal jam sounds intriguing. I like to experience different food styles (some, anyway). That sounds like something I would like.

And parties that involve kind of a costume inside are always laid back and good. Marge and I are frequent Fantasy Fest participants, in Key West. And while it's fun to dress for the locals parade, and to watch the main parade with all the wild costumes (or body paint), the attitude of the people is the thing that you notice. It's a "leave your troubles at home and party for a while."

Kind of like the real hippy movement. I always laughed at people who tried to dress how they thought a hippy should look. While being a hippy was from the inside - not the dress, and maybe not even the speech.

I love costumes, I still find somewhere to go every Halloween and "Farsang" (sounds like FARR-shung) for which we have a ball usually, which is the Hungarian equivalent of Mardi Gras I believe.

Marge's sons do a good version of this in karaoke. Costumes not required, but definitely an attitude (and a good range of vocal capability).

Listening to this early this morning. Makes me think of the movie Mama Mia.

So what exactly is Carl's cafe? I admit I am to lazy to go read the first post. Is it just for general cafe-like banter? And do I get some cheesecake too?

Right now Im at work. My daughter's birthday is on Tuesday. I cant believe how quickly time flies. I want to get her pictures done professionally (I havent had them done since she was 6 months) and I want to take her to the aquarium for her birthday. My birthday is the seventh, so a little more than a week. I will be 19. Woo hoo. My last teenage year...sigh. Although I really don't feel like a teenage. I don't think I ever really was one to tell you the truth.
