I like chicken, but there has to be a more humane way of killing them. I was appalled and disgusted when I watched the video.

wow ... i dont even know what to say. I am not like in love with chickens, i dont want one as a pet (though i know may people keep them as pets) but have the ability to empathized with another living, feeling, creature.

you know its an odd thing, most poeple who dislike peta, if they were truly honest with themselves, they dislike it simply becuase it makes them feel uncomfortable. yet they use other excuses.

If it were me, I don't know, but I'm a human being. But they are chickens. Not humans. I should be allowed to have the opinion in the debate section because it's an opinion no matter how mean or nasty it is. I wasn't bashing anyone just giving my feelings on chickens. I watched the video and showed it to a couple of friends and they don't think that it was that bad.

I think it was dramatized for the purpose to persuade people, but I don't think it's THAT bad. And if it is, there's nothing to do to stop it.

It's the same with seafood. I just made a lobster for valentines and he was well and alive and had to be cooked. I know it was probably painful for him, but I have to eat and I love seafood.

As for chickens, I can't feel emotions towards them because their my food and I enjoy them.

i don't dislike peta, i just think they're over the top fanatics. i like animals. i really do, but i have other things that are more important to me than them.

my children for example. now if this was a video of a child being abused, i'd be ticked off. but it wasn't. i get angry when i see dogs or cats, even horses hurt, but i'm not as emotionally disgusted as if it were a human being.

before i had kids, i was the same way as the members of peta. but now my cares and what i find important have changed. there's just not that same feeling towards these things as i used to have before more important things came into my life.

I just don't understand how you can be so cruel towards another living, breathing, thinking creature. Just because you don't have an emotional attatchment doesn't mean you shouldn't feel for them. You SHOULD. I don't want to be rude or anything, but I'm downright disgusted at this moment, and I'm going to leave before I say anything I'll regret.

Hmmmm.... I can see Alphamomma's point about children coming before animals, and I have no problem with animals being killed to feed humans.

The key issue, as I see it, is how they're killed. I've heard of wringing chickens' necks and of chopping off their heads; the idea (I presume) is that those are fast, painless methods of killing them.

I saw a TV show with chef Anthony Bourdain in which he watches people partially slit a boar's throat to collect the blood; they later butchered the whole animal. Even cool, calm omnivore Bourdain said something along the lines of: geez -- this is too much for me -- that poor thing bleeding out -- couldn't they put it out of its misery?

I did boil a lobster once and burst into tears shortly afterward, which is unlike me. When I thought about it, I realized that actually killing an animal in such a horrid way was repulsive on a very simple, gut level. (I later learned that there's some trick to killing lobsters instantly; wish I had known that then.)

of course kids come before animals LMAO ... i dont think anyone would say different.

in fact it isnt even asking you not to eat chicken, nor is it asking mcdonalds to stop serving chicken.

sheesh it is simply asking for a better way of slaughter, and this was asked of mcdonalds few yrs ago and supposedly they were in agreement and were doing so, but now they arent. so the campaign has been revived.

the campaign is simply asking:

#1 mcdonalds use a better, less cruel method of slaughter
#2 you dont eat AT MCDONALDS until they do.

I care tremendously about human rights and have worked tirelessly for over a decade in human rights, however i find that humans honestly dont want to be helped lol ... ive busted my bumm for human rights and saw absolutely NO results and only gotten drama and poilitics in return.

i have no emotional connection to those human beings. i do not know them, ive never met them and probally never will. i am a advocate for childrens rights, yet ive never met most of the kids i fight for ....i have no emotional connection with them. yet i can empathize with their plight and their feelings.

yipes ... pudgie i saw that episode as well and my stomach turned .... i dislike pigs ...i find cartoon pigs to be cute but in real life id not go 10 feet close to a pig .. they are disgusting ... but id never allow one to suffer either !!!
