I have a couple of questions...

She is sleeping an awful lot... She will fal asleep when I am talking or working with her. Now is this just what babies do... or do you think she is sick?

When she is fingered trained .. how long should I wait until I can felt her out in my room?

Because when she got out, she couldn't fly at all so she just walked on the floor.. is that ok?

also... do you guys keep your cages open throughout the whole day? when you are there of course. I am a house wife and am home all day. I was wondering when she is ready do I just leave her cage open to let her fly around freely?

Is her walking around on hardwood floors too dirty for her??

What about going under the bed? Will she get sick from it?

Babies do sleep alot, just like human babies. However if she is 'sleeping' while you are talking to her I think she's not sleeping, she's just relaxed and content and is closing her eyes for a little rest. When I talked to my keet, she would tilt her head, close and open her eyes repeatedly but slowly, and grind her beak. Rocky does this too, but not nearly as much. He's much more active and hyper than she was, and can't seem to hold still for one second LOL unless of course he's cuddling.

You can leave the cage door open(as long as she's finger trained) as long as you're there to supervise. You'd be amazed the trouble they can get themselves into when you're gone for just a split second.

Going under the bed? I imagine its dusty, and it also would be hard and stressful to get her out from under there, so don't let her go under.

OO ok I thought maybe I was over working her but the she was doing it now matter is we trained a lot or a little. That's makes me feel better. I thought she was getting sick. I ask about the bed just because she got under there.. but I have blocked it now. I really don't want her to get sick.

I'll leave the cage open, the only worry I have is evrything in my room is tall and she can't fly very high yet so I don't know if I should let her fly around and walk, then just put her cage on the ground so she can get back in...

Evening Everyone!! I know I am on the west coast and a lot of the people on here are on the east.. so sorry it is so lat BUT I have Boo Boo's new cage and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a technic to moving cages. I'd like to do it with the least stress on her. But I know it is for the better because it is bigger. Any help is apperciated!!! Thank you!!!

Different people use different methods and it depends on your bird. Set up the new cage next to the old and gradually move favorite food and toys into the new cage. Make the new cage more interesting then the old one.

Emily hopped right over to her new cage and never looked back once her favorite toy was in, but others take longer.

Play it by ear...Boo-Boo will let you know when he's ready for the new digs.

Hey thanks! Totally worked! She loves her perched that made of twian. I exchanged that and she hope right out and right in to the new one. Blew me away!! But she has started trusting me more! It is soo cool!! I feel so much better now that she has more space! Thanks again!!

It is very funny. Sometimes when my doggies barks when there someone at the door Boo Boo will chirp!!! I would think the would scare him but I do believe she is "singing" with my Roxie! LOL Budgies are so cool!!
