I don't think it's illegal in the US to post the sign. Under the First Amendment you can say whatever vileness you want to say and it's protected as free speech. But the sign has to pass the city ordinances of height, distance, etc.

But it's not illegal to post stuff like that. What's sad is that only a smattering of people have been showing up to protest this hatred in the name of Jesus.

The real problem, however, is that according to the preacher, and his faith, he's correct. Anything that is not Christian is of the devil, myself included I guess. So sad that a religion of "love thy neighbor" is such a lie and fraud. And even sadder is that people really, truly believe it's the "truth" because some ancient writings say it is.

But you could say that this is equivalent to casting stones and the new testament condemns that.

well actually the sign could be seen as a hate crime, just the same as a swastika or burning cross, or the word ni**er ... depends how its used and how fervantly the complaints are. the sign for sure insites hatred against muslims, so if people really cared they could say it was a hate crime and have the sign removed.

but like you said, not many people are complaining, muslim groups have officially asked the sign be removed but no one cares what we want/think ... ive written to officials noth city and state and even federal, but i know it was only to make me feel better, cause they arent going to do anything.

Although there is freedom of the press in this country, I would agree that this particular form of press is hateful and could be considered as a hate crime. But you cannot lump all believers for this one person. Just as you folks don't want all muslims, atheist, agnostics, etc lumped together, it is unfair to state that Christianity is a "hateful religion" simply by the acts of one man or one christian denomination. As I have stated previously, these are acts committed by ignorant people; just like the ignorance perpetrated on 9/11, except that in this particular case, no one has actually lost their life.

I have stated before that believers come in all shapes and forms. I tend to be more liberal than most although regarding the scriptures I will not sway. I believe the bible to be the actual word of God. If that makes me ignorant so be it. I much prefer to be ignorant on the side of God versus against Him.

The above of course are all in my opinion.
