As some of you know, we adopted two kittens two years ago.

The one simply disappeared a few months ago, which was very upsetting. The other was gentler, very affectionate & always stayed close to home. I have been ill the last few days and she has slept beside me.

However, I hadn't seen her all day, and we received a call this evening, from the Cats Protection League, to say that they had found her and that she had been killed on the road.

I know that in many countries cats are kept indoors, but here, in the UK, they are usually free to roam ~ not that either of ours roamed far.

This is the worst thing about having pets ~ losing them.

Out road is only busy at certain times ~ and I think that this happened at one of those times.

I don't think that we could risk having more cats, unless we move house ~ too dangerous & too upsetting.

Aww PDM, I am soo sorry I know how hard it is to lose a pet. You are so right..the worst part of having pets is losing them.
And most of us know from the get go that we are going to eventually suffer heartache when they are gone. But I think as hard as it is to lose them, it would be even harder not to have them to begin with. At least they are part of our lives and we can love them and receive their love in return whilst they are here. I can't imagine not having pets of one kind or another.
I'm glad that you at least know what happened to your kitty, and you don't have to go on wondering this time.That's hard too.

Oh i am so sorry too. Pets bring so much pleasure and just as much heartache when they pass on. Take care of your self, you sound like you could use some TLC now!

I am so sorry to hear this, PDM. I agree and I hope that's some comfort to you. Yes... Makes the grief all that more painful. You have my sympathies.
