please don't think it is your fault... it isn't. things happen that are beyond our control, that is why they are called accidents. i understand how you feel about loki as well. you may feel like you hate him, but you are an animal lover obviously, and the feelings will dull in time. please don't blame yourself. i live by the idea ... things happen for a reason. they may be horrible at the time but eventually it will be revealed to you. it was quick and bloo never underwent days of suffering because you wouldn't take him to a vet if it was that way... you may be able to feel bad regarding your part in it, but things were not like that so don't take your sorrow out on yourself, you don't deserve it. this is terrible, but it is an example of why you are not responsible... i knew a fellow who stepped on his own bird, not knowing it was out. it had figured out how to open the cage door and was prowling about in the room it's cage was in. he went in for something or other and not knowing the bird got out, had no clue to be careful and stepped on his lil birdie. he blamed himself as well and that is human nature and nothing will ever change it. i asked him if the bird had ever pulled a houdini act, he said no. i asked him if he would have secured the cage door if he had known the bird was working on it, he said yes. the unfortunate thing did happen but it was not his fault because he had no warning or clue that the posibility existed that his keet was not in the cage. it was hard on him but after a while, he understood that he was not the way he felt he was. i love that you got a new friend for ollie. (see... a terrible person wouldn't think of something like that. :)) a lutino. they are pretty, is it a creamio (pale colored) or bright? a "dew over"!! (a name i would think of... i choose "different" names! LOL) enjoy the good memories of bloo, and making more good ones with your new baby. fly with the angels little one. R.I.P bloo

BB, did your post go through 3 times at a 1 minute difference? Wow. 3 times. That's a lot for the posts. Anyways, Oh my God! I am so sorry for your loss. It is the nature that cats like birds and will stalk them, kill them... Please don't have angriness towards yourself right now. It is truely horrible when you loose your best friend. You look at yourself in the mirror and whisper, "Why did I let my cat hurt my precious bird friend! WHY!!!!" It's normal to be like that, and I'm so sorry for your loss. i would recommend that with your 2 birds that you own, keep them in one room with the cage locked at all times, so your cat won't hunt them down. Again, I am so sorry R.I.P. Bloo Be free honey!
