Woh, dude. You cannot house two females together. They will slowly rip each other's feathers off until they are both naked. Next blood will be gushing everywhere from vicious bites and next thing you know you have a mess.
People come here with real questions so if you do not know what you are talking about or just here to cause trouble do not post. You can have multiple females together. It is not a good idea to have more females than males as a general rule but I had 2 girls and a boy together for several years, I adopted them like that and they got along fine. The one of the females died of tumors and I got a large flight cage and had 2 males and 2 females together. One of my males passed away and I now have 2 girls and 1 boy together and they get along fine. I have 2 more males which I have tried to introduce, they get along fine outside of the cage but my older girl does want them inside with her. I really depends on the birds, the size of cage. For 6 you would need a 21x32x39 fight cage as the minimum size.

You can have multiple females together. I wouldn't add all three at once if that's an option. Maybe one every other week so they have time to acclimate and get used to all the new stuff going on. You have to make sure your cage is big enough. Squished keets aren't happy keets. And make sure you have plenty of food and water dishes available. I would do at least one dish for every two birds to make sure to lower the chances of food fights. You also have to make sure to clean it often so the pile up of poop doesn't make them sick.
PS, I personally think it's a lot of work and too many keets (I only have 2 Mooshi and Meeko), but if you feel you can keep up your responsibility to them and give them the space, nutrition, attention and training they need, then that's your choice. Just make sure to do it the right way so you don't do any damage.

I have four female parakeets and in essence they "paired up" into two loving couples. They were quite fine together. When the eldest one died, the other half of that couple was very sad, but they adjusted.

Yes and in fact the pairs would "mate" - they would take turns being the one on top. I tried to make sure the situation was not conducive to egg laying - no nest box, etc - but occasionally one would lay an egg. I made sure they had plenty of calcium and so on so that the egg laying did not cause them excess body stress. The keets definitely saw each other as "partners" and would kiss, snuggle and so on.
Now that Nazo is dead, it means Ivory and Santo spend a lot of time cuddling and nuzzling and trying to make babies occasionally, and Pinto is alone. So I am sure that makes her feel sad. Still, she would much rather be near the other two than all by herself, based on her behavior. Getting a fourth parakeet to "round things out" does not seem like a good long term solution.

It sounds so cute, all the snuggling and nuzzling. I had read about solo birds liking to have a fuzzy substitute to cuddle up to, and that stores sell these 'fuzzies' - but perhaps any small plush toy would do?

yes definitely, substitutes are cute. The sort of "danger" there - which is an intriguing point brought up recently by medical research on therapeutical robots - is that birds get a one sided relationship which actually harms them. They invest feelings in an inanimate object, but the object never responds, which then make them feel sad. The think they are doing something wrong, why aren't they being nuzzled back?
