Yes I went into petco (bad idea) anyways I saw a cute cockateil that was sick. Of course no one seemed to care. I would love to adopt all of the animals, but I can't. Is there any way to bargain the price of the bird of they are sick? Has anyone tried this?

I know how tempting this is, but if you can't afford the cockatiel then quite honestly do you want to take on the vet bills. Just a thought.

If I had to take it to the vet I would spend the money. I don't want to support petco and pay full price for a bird that could be beyond help. I'm really angry with Petco for not even trying to help the sick bird.

I completely understand where you're coming from. It is always tempting when I go into pet stores to want to try to "save them all". The animals often look so uncared for and sad, and I want to rescue them. It is heartbreaking to just leave them in that situation.

What I would do is contact your local ASPCA or other organization and alert them to the sick animal. Maybe take some photos if you can do it in a subtle way. Right now the issue is a bad pet store. If they are left alone, they will keep hurting animals. If you save one animal, you'll be showing them that "hey even if we have sick animals, people will buy them, so we don't have to change. This is great!" Instead, take action so that they STOP having animals treated like that.

Yeah its so painful to leave these animals. Animals bring me so much joy and to see them treated like that really xxxxxx me off.

Usually there's a way to report this type of issue anonymously, so you can let them know to go take a look at the store without having to get personally involved.

I reported it to animal care and control. I hope this bird can get proper treatment.

That is wonderful news, LuvAnimalsDearly! That really does seem the best solution, because now the store will have to take care of *all* of its animals better, and will know that it's being watched.
