Starfire, don't you think that you could say that it is a waste of time to discuss or debate anything?

I am not trying to convert, or to be converted, but I may change my mind about something, or become more open to ideas.

By discussing, and researching the information behind our discussions, we are learning. Don't you think that opening one's minds to the ideas of others, researching facts, and debating them is educational?

And religion is a major political factor in the world, so I don't think that we can just ignore it. Perhaps more discussion will lead to better understanding, and a more peaceful world?

I cannot understand why anyone would think that religious discussion is pointless. I am happy to discuss almost anything of interest ~ and religion is interesting.

But maybe your post deserves a thread of its own, where others can give their opinions on the subject.

On the new thread that PDM started, "Religious/Supernatural Discussion 'futile'?, I made a reply - really, more about me and how I think than an "answer" to Starfire.

I will say this, Starfire (again with an 'evil' glint and a churckle): 'Join us in discussion. Resistance is futile.'

"Churckle?" Not a new word, but a typo. I meant it to be "chuckle."

There is ever reason to debate about it! I left Christianity mainly because I got to hammer out what was going through my head in the form of debates and discussions. Of course it's not the reason, but it helped!

And please don't give Atheists so little credit such as only believing if God came physically. It's very offensive to make them out to be so arrogant. There are many Atheists who just want a level headed intelligent Christian to talk to and make sense of what they believe.

It's that very attitude, that it's useless, that unfortunately(?) keeps many atheists just they/we are.
